    Winch install question/issue

The little one is a 40 lb Shepherd mix (German and Miniature) and she can jump in with no real issue. Sometimes she misses but she always gets it on the second try. She is 2 years old. The big guy is about 75 lbs and he is 1/4 Australian shepherd. He initially tried jumping in but failed too...

    Winch install question/issue

Nothing like a trained dog or pack of them to discourage unwanted aggression. My shepherds (2) ride shotgun in my LMTV and I have no worries about it's safety. The imposing nature of the machine and two unfriendly canines in the cab deter all interest in my experience. The dogs are big babies in...

Air conditioner install using Waterloo parts

They are similar to what is on the heater unit. They are the flanges that the ducts which direct airflow at the driver and passenger foot wells are attached to. In my post I made a note that you must use the duct ring from the heater unit on the AC unit for the passenger side duct since the...

Air conditioner install using Waterloo parts

It will be obvious when you pull the heater. The 4 pin connector matches the existing connector to the heater for fan power and panel illumination IIRC. The 2 pin orange and black is power and ground for the stepper motor flapper controls, AC compressor clutch, etc. IIRC the black goes to...

Air conditioner install using Waterloo parts

Here's my write up on installation thus far with all the parts from Waterloo. Definitely had the 4 drains on mine as well - had to drill out holes with a template. I just made mine from cardboard and that worked fine. I'm waiting on some official hoses and drier from Red Dot to complete the...

    M1079 van body on M1078

Well the GVW of my 1079 is still 5.000lbs higher than it's curb weight. So even with the enclosure bringing the curb weight up to 21.5k vs 17.5k for the 1-78 it is rated for another 5k on top of that. GVW on my 1079 is 25,980

    M1079 van body on M1078

My 2008 M1079A1R has no noticeable "rock and roll" on the road. Not sure what you are experiencing exactly but mine is absolutely stable.

    100A -> 200A/400A alternator replacements

The 260a alternator from Niehoff is about $3400 retail with regulator. You do need a different shock tower and different mounts and of course larger wiring, but I don't think that would amount to $12.5k

Registering an M1078 in Washington State

Oregon gave me a rash of shit over my truck and I wasted 4 hours at the DMV only to find that my money isn't good enough for the state of OR so I just licensed my truck in Utah with these guys: www.dirtlegal.com Cops don't give me any problem. I live literally across the street from my city...

    Manual transmission LMTV?

Why would you do this? The auto is better in every single respect. 1st gear is your low range, and you have a torque converter so you can crawl at real low speeds. 3126b is not mechanical. It has an ECU similar to the C7. 3116 is the mechanical engine used in the A0 but the transmission...

    When It Rains, It Dies

Before you test for battery amperage draw make sure you pull all the circuit breakers in the M1079 van enclosure on the side of the blackout/emergency light panel. These power the relays that control the lights and they are energized even when the lights are off. There's a warning sticker to...

    AWD and Slip

The ABS system is capable of modulating brake application, and when manufacturers implemented "traction control" it was basically just a software upgrade to the ABS systems. Which is why they did it.... it's not great or even good.... it's mostly a marketing ploy and it was essentially free...

    1998 LMTV m1078 3116 pulling a code d1-6600 d2-4212 d3-6927

https://elibrarywcl.files.wordpress.com/2015/02/diagnosticcodes.pdf Page 54 It does suggest testing for shorts to battery positive on the solenoids switch terminals. But otherwise this generally means an internal TCU fault. Can't find reference to a 4212 code. 6600 usually means the TCU...

    1998 LMTV m1078 3116 pulling a code d1-6600 d2-4212 d3-6927

Based on those codes the TCU is bad. The downfall of the 3116 FMTV's. The engine might be mechanical but doesn't do any good when the TCU fails. This was not uncommon.

Why did this one go for so much $

First time buyers in a bidding war most likely. It's been to depot and looks like a solid runner but it's just a cargo, no winch, no AC, and a 3116 A0 truck. Definitely not worth the auction price or dealing with the EUC, etc. Anyone that's familiar with these wouldn't have paid that. I've seen...

!CLOSED! Cab Mount Group Buy. NEW OEM FMTV LMTV M1078, M1079, etc

Production is supposed to be underway or in the queue. They require 50% payment to begin production and that bill was paid on Aug 5th. I am waiting for word that they are ready to ship and ask for the rest of their money. They are in New York and I'm in Oregon..... I don't have an exact ETA. I...

    Power steering fluid filter...

That definitely looks appropriate. Thanks! Someone should add that to the Filters list in the FMTV parts spreadsheet.

    Power steering fluid filter...

This is an annual service item and I'm not finding any availability on the civilian market. It's a Bosch filter: NSN: 2910-01-375-7624 Part number: 3032141112, or 3032.141.112-0CB I have a surplus filter but curious if anyone has found a cross-reference that's commonly available.

Renewing NOS cab bushings-- is that possible?

The group buy will not be the end of the supply. I'm having more than the initial sets made to cover eventualities and it will be possible to make more runs of these. They do have a shelf life so anyone with "New Old Stock" needs to be questioned on exactly how "old" they are. Their usable...
