Well I know on my truck the rear-rear axle has alot of play in the pinion and the u-joint at the rear end of the driveshaft connecting the 2 is shot. I plan on opening it up after I get the truck back together. Im gonna use the front-rear axle for my bobber.
Just in case anyone has parts trucks Im still in need of one axle plate (?) the wedge shaped piece that goes between the front springs and axle. I found one in a salvage yard laying on the ground but couldnt find the other one. I also need four u-bolts and nuts.
Edit: I dont want to turn this...
Success!! I went ahead and ground off all the rivet heads with the flap wheel. ( I'm new to the torch and didnt want to screw anything up) I used an axe to start peeling the plate away from the frame and then used a combo of the axe and chisles to pry the plate off the frame. On one side I...
Thanks guys. Lots of good advice to try today.
Yes Im right handed and my left hand has paid the price for it. Actually I think the elbow injury is from the misses. The instant you miss your reaction is to try to stop the bfh before you hit your hand and thats where the torn muscle happens...
I looked at your site and thats when I went and scrapped enough copper to go get a torch set up. I thought for sure I'd be done by that afternoon. Boy was I wrong
Thats the new plan if the air hammer doesnt work.
If I drill the centers to about a half in. depth, how hot can I get them with out doing any damage to the frame itself?
Or do I need to drill them all the way thru? I would think that drilling as deep as the plate and the frame would be...
I drilled one tonight just to try it with the bfh, but after 10 min of swinging I had to give up. My elbo just cant take it. The Dr said it might take a month or more to heal but I just dont want to wait anymore. Tomorrow morning I may try heating the drilled rivet then putting the air hammer to it.
Guys Ive been searching for a week but cant find where anyone has done it this way.
I started to work on bobbing my deuce (Finally!!) I removed he bed, no problem, used a grinder with a 36 grit flap wheel and knocked the heads of the rivets holding the rear crossmember w/pintle hitch and drove...
I'm no tree hugger but please get a tree strap and not wrap the chain around a tree trunk. The chain will bite into the tree bark and possibly kill the tree and the "tree-huggers" will use this against us and all responsible off-roaders to get public orv areas shut down.
Were you able to put the drill on one end and see the other end spin? (calble broke in the middle). Or leave the cable attatched to the speedo and spin with a drill and see if it registers? if that works then its a problem where it attatches to the trans.
Your blower motor might be on a 15amp circuit but its not pulling anywhere near 15 amps. So goes for the rest of your circuits. You'd trip your main if you had every circuit maxed out at the same time. Add up all the breakers in your panel and youll find out that they far outnumber what your...
