There was some discussion about gin poles in another thread. I think the outcome over the concern of the weight on the front was to use cribbing under the front frame/bumper to take the weight off the front tires and axle.
You should be able to get 2 on just fine. This is a 101 and a 105 on an 18' trailer
Edit: now that I think about it (and look at the pic) I believe thats a 16' trailer.
roflMy name IS Jeff and I am an electrician also. NON union. Thats all I'll say.
I like the mods and hope to make something similar for the front of my M818 someday so I can do some lifting in the future.
Nice looking truck. It appears you have the same side board set-up on your bed as I will have on mine when done. The M105 trailer I got from GL has 2 side boards from the same side, (cant remember which side right now), that means you cant take the bows and store them on the front of the bed...
Nice work but....... in pic 6, the cables holding up the a-frame, the cable clamps need to be turned around. The way they are now is putting a kink in the cable holding the weight. That will be the point of failure when it gets over stressed.
Edit: Field Manual 5-125 (rigging) is an excellent...
Ah! You werent asking about welding the cage directly to the beacon. (At least thats what I thought you were doing)
I missed the part in your post about welding feet on it.
Nice work.
Cool. I learned to drive a stick in my dads Series II. Stupid me grew up to be a Jeep nut.
I was stationed at RAF Upper Heyford in the early 90's and if I had known that I could have the USAF ship back 1 vehicle I would have bought an ex-MOD Land Rover. I still look in the back of the Land...
bs, Nice looking truck. Odd place for the bridge plate, never seen it mounted there before. Did you pick up the truck from GL or did a someone else do it for you? I ask because I think someone would have noticed in the pics if it was a dropside.
What he (M1075) means is when they do come up on gl for auction they usually close out around $500
Edit: I've got a hard top on my M818 (with the original military provided rain catcher, I. E. dent from soldiers). If I wasnt swapping it to my bob project, I'd sell it in a hearthbeat for $500...
Somehow you posted this thread twice. You need to delete one of them so your not trying to read both to see what answers you get. (preferably this one since I have no usable info on your ramp question)
It sounds like it might work. If it were me (this is just and idea, not saying you need to do this instead) I would just replace the axle with one that would allow you to use some standard wheels and tires or even find one to match the Jeep wheel pattern.
Edit: if you already have the Disco...
