The engine is all uncovered and time to reassemble. Also time to fall back and regroup on where all the parts are located and what has been cleaned and is ready for assembly.Rebuilt heads, Check. They look so nice. Almost like aluminum heads. I have the short block all clean with all new seals...
My thought is the transmission is getting tired and needs a few seals replaced. I had that same problem on my Mule M1009 and it works fine now after having the transmission gone over at a transmission shop. The seals were hard and some were gone. Made a huge difference after the rebuild. Mine...
May 2017 CUCV M1008 Project
Today was the first real day that I had the time to get the garage cleaned up enough to get back to work on the M1008. I had trucks and trailers out my driveway and was working outside the past month and a half. I have all them projects done and still have lawn to...
The transfer case is tight against the flor as a result of striking the cross member on a big rock.
Once again I managed to bend and destroy the cross member. I am going to do some measuring and think a 1/4" wall 2X4 steel tube may work best. I may try to beef up another stock one. But I like...
Today after my regular job. I came home to my irregular job. I wanted to do some damage assessment on Terminus M1009. Top side still good. Runs and drives fine. Right rear tire flat again. Dry rotted. It is still and original 1984 Uniroyal tire that was in an M1009 as a spare. It is junk now...
I pulled a few bushes and some tree stumps out today with Terminus M1009. The work is easy if you have the right strap. The Bubba Rope works wonders. Beats a chain hands down. I just bought another new one that is much heavier then the other one I carry in Terminus M1009. Picture it like a 3 ton...
How badly broken is it? Cast iron can be welded and holds well. I had a few engine blocks welded that were damaged in collisions. Brand new cars that had the block broken at back and they held up well. Of course the car/truck was junk but the engines I removed and transplanted worked well. I...
That paper he has is a GM line ticket. It may be in your truck somewhere. It could be between the springs of the seat on the bottom side. I found a few of them folded up and tucked in some place in the cab. They were just used during the assembly line time. Each piece that was put on the truck...
That bushing is toast I'm sure.
I like toast. With lots of butter. I am just sitting and watching. I never have any of these problems with Terminus M1009 and all my other CUCV's. And if any vehicle should have problems mine should. They get used like an anvil. I think it is the pure stock...
My guess would be to make sure the C clips are on the rear most U joint caps. They keep the U joint centered in the yoke. They would be the C clips on the U joint caps at the rear. Good Luck.
I just had a friend pay Doghead $325. for one and it did not have a pressure switch in it. I remember buying them for $100. all day. The one Saturn Surplus has listed is missing everything electric. I would scout salvage yards for one. Civilian one will work. What part is it you need? I had them...
I never knew there was a difference. If there is it is not on the tri-mount bell flange mount. They are all the same. I would say roll with it. I have pipes made for mine that are different than the stock ones. I have them made that the bend is higher then the front springs. It makes it a tad...
Imagine that. I was given 25 gallons of it a few years back. It was out dated. I painted several CUCV's and yes it holds up well even to the drivers side floor of my Mule M1009. Wears like iron. I have water base CARC paint that I bought. That works well also and cleans up with a garden hose. I...
That is not an over flow vent. It is just a vent/breather to allow excess gasses/pressure to vent as the fluids/oil gets hot and expands. I don't think the leaking rear seal was the designed intent for the breather on the transfer case. I feel if it gets to that point of leaking it is stressing...
I may have confused the issue. The seal is in the front of the transfer case. I just wanted to clear that up. I know I had several that were always taking transmission fluid and then when I serviced the transfer case I seen that it was overly full. I sent it and had the repairs made at the...
I think the rear seal of the transmission output shaft is leaking and needs replaced. This allows transmission fluid from the transmission to leak back into the transfer case and then it leaks out the over flow. Because unless they filled the transfer case from the overflow. How would it get any...
Yes original axles C clips broke.
C clip still looks good to me. The center carrier/clutch section not so good. I have a complete new center carrier for the M1009. I have had it for years. Just the carrier. No ring or pinion. I also have a few complete rear axles in crates. France. Not sure...
