    Electric Fuel lift pump

I've mostly heard of ATF being used to help free up sticking injectors, because of the amount of detergents in it, though I can see it cleaning the pump as well. Not sure about it's effect on seals.

    Electric Fuel lift pump

Umm, E85 is an 85% ethanol 15% gasoline blend (anywhere from 51% ethanol to 83% actually, based on climate) , not to be used in Diesel engines for any reason. The biggest issue with the loss of sulfur in fuel is that sulfur causes seals to swell, when it was removed a lot of pumps started...

    Electric Fuel lift pump

The sulfur did act as a lubricant in older fuel systems, so I won't say it's a bad idea to use some type of additive, but there are still plenty of vehicles out on the road that have done hundreds of thousands of miles on them since the introduction of ULSD. They do add some lubricity enhancers...

Filler hole thread dimensions for Blitz style Jerry cans

I thought it was the same 2" pipe threads they're still using today on the inside of the scepter cans. The old nozzles work just fine in either type that I've seen, unless they changed something. I know the old expansion types work for either, I just figured the inside threads are the same as...

    Electric Fuel lift pump

yeah, I know the feeling. If you're going to tear it apart, that's the best time to make upgrades. Also not a bad idea to throw out questions to this crowd. Unlike a lot of forums, we're pretty laid back and won't jump all over someone for asking a new idea, unless of course there are already...

    Electric Fuel lift pump

2 stroke oil and many of the additives may give slight benefits to the fuel, and if you use a good quality one you're unlikely to do any harm, but there isn't really much need to treat fuel unless you have a good reason to. One example is in very cold climates adding anti-gel additives may be...

Got installed on the island - MEP-803a

Hopefully if you don't get power back by the end of the year your wife learns to adapt to the reality of living on generator power and doesn't try to run every appliance at the same time again, but as long as the fluid levels are good she's unlikely to do any actual damage to the generator with...

    2010 M1123 Fuel Delivery problems

you say you are getting fuel in the return lines from the injectors, have you cracked the line at an injector to see if there is any fuel getting to it or not? If you know for certain there is a glow plug problem, I'd fix that first so you aren't trying to fix multiple issues on the engine at...

Kysor fan clutch rebuilding video on You Tube

I know it was just to run them down, but using a 1/2" impact gun with reducers to 3/8" then down to 1/4" drive sockets for both removing and installing small bolts just seems like a bad idea to show people. You'll always end up with that one guy snapping off bolts because he wasn't careful.

Mep-803a motor locking up at 0 and 180deg

most hardware stores have a bolt sizing display you can use to match up existing bolts pretty easy, so if you have one off another injector hold down just take it in with you. If nothing else if there is anyone halfway competent at the store they should be able to match it for you. As Farmitall...

Mep-803a motor locking up at 0 and 180deg

definitely do it a few times with the injectors out if there has been any fluid in the cylinder. Do it until you stop seeing fluid be blown out the injector ports, then do it a couple more times to be sure.

    What is this on windshield?

For the first one, I'm not actually sure what you are asking about. The bracket at the edge of the windshield sticking out towards the mirror perhaps? If so, I've never seen one before, and don't know it's purpose. If you are asking about something different please let us know. The second...

    M998 won’t start

Do a quick forum search for "HMMWV won't start" and you'll come up with dozens of threads, all starting about the same as this one. There are also a couple other forums that have answers as well. Sounds like your controller or start box is failed, you'll either need to replace parts or take...

    Steel rear airlift bumper

Neither had I, but I'm not going to claim I know everything about these rigs. Unless you are planning on actually airlifting the HMMWV, or towing max weight trailers across rough terrain, you can probably get away without the reinforcement. On the other hand, they made the brackets and...

Can the Protector Box be repaired?

Doing a ground harness is definitely worth it. If installing it doesn't help issues that you are currently experiencing, then it's very likely to keep some other issue from rearing it's ugly head in the future. It's one of those "cheap insurance" type additions to the truck. Building it...

    Hmmwv vacuum for hvac?

Pulling vacuum for an aircon just needs an air conditioning manifold and a vacuum pump. They can be found as cheap as $20 for air operated vacuum pumps (but they require a lot of air, 4.2CFM@90PSI) or about $50 for a single stage and $100 for a 2 stage vacuum pump. Manifolds are in the $30...

Can the Protector Box be repaired?

Can it be repaired? Yes. Should that style be repaired? If you have the time and know how to do it, then sure, why not. Worst you'll probably do is make a non functional box still not work. (I say probably, but if you really screw it up I'm sure there could be some fire involved, so don't...

    M720 pump replacement or rebuild

Most hydraulic pumps I've ever worked on were very simple. There really isn't a whole lot to most of them, so hopefully these are the same. Good luck, take your time, and pay attention to what direction the seals are facing when you take it apart.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

I bought some tire chains at auction. Thought it was 4 chains, turned out to be 4 pairs. They're for 50" tires by 13.5, so cutting them down to length and removing one link from the cross chains to reduce it to size. Nothing on it was tightened down/squeezed shut, so I'm putting cross chains...
