Ok this is probably going to be a really dumb question or two

both terminals of the charger hooked up to one battery? How does that work then? I can understand one to positive on the first battery (hooked to starter solenoid) and one to a chassis ground, but if both cables are connected to a single battery then I'm very confused as to what it's actually...

Ongoing Log Of My 1987 HMMWV

Mine is doing the same thing, sits at or barely above the zero mark when the engine is hot and idling. I don't know if it's normal or not, but I'll see if it still does it after I change the oil (truck only has 400 miles on it at this point, so hoping it's either normal, or just an issue with...

    Question-will a 1100lb 803A operate successfully on a steel 1,400lb load garden cart?

Vibrations would be pretty bad for that cart. While it can handle the weight, that's a lot of vibration. The ones like that I've seen also tend to start rusting apart pretty quickly, so I wouldn't trust the 1400 lb rating other than the first year or so. Since it's going to be stored inside...

What did you do to your trailer today.

When I was in Yermo picking up my truck they were loading 2 flatbed semis full of those trailers, at least 8, maybe more.

    M105 Trailer Question

did you check the tire pressures? My experience with hot tires is usually due to flexing from underinflation. The trailer is kind of heavy to begin with, even empty. Might be heat generated by too tight of hub bearings or dragging brakes, but rubber doesn't transfer heat that well so I'd vote...

Proud New Parent of a Fermont MEP-803A 10kW Gen Set! What the heck do I do now?

Check the exhaust outlet, if it looks oily at all you're going to need to do a heavy loaded run to clear out the wet stacking, usually 80% or more load works best if you can load it that far without it bogging down. If it bogs down, load it as far as you can to slight bogging, when it picks up...

    M105 Trailer Question

Looking at the internet and other threads on SS... Deuce engine is about 1300-1400 lbs depending on what all is attached, if missing starter and other parts might be less. Transmission is in the 250 lbs range. So the 2 engines and 2 transmissions together are only going to be around 3200 lbs...

New guy with wiring question MEP-803A

did you flip the AC Circuit Interrupter up to the "closed" position? If so, is the little light on above it? If you don't close that connection, then there is no power at the lugs.

New guy with wiring question MEP-803A

Hi, welcome to this site Glad to see you took my advice on getting a military generator for your prime power for now until things get back to normal over there. I seriously doubt that you'll end up disappointed with it. (I'm that guy with a similar name to this one over on that other site :)...

    24V jump box

That looks similar to what the auction yard in Yermo used to start and run my truck to get it loaded up on the trailer.

    24V jump box

Nah, Flintstone system is better for braking issues than running out of fuel.

Parade - pulling float...unplug fan control????

As long as you don't end up cooling your engine down below 180 degrees, which is unlikely with a working thermostat in the cooling system, I see no issues with having the fan run 100% of the time. I know the fan in mine comes on up around 220-225 on the gauge, and only runs for 20-30 seconds...

    MEP- 803A All Weather Enclosure

That's pretty much all we ever did in my unit in the Army. Some of the ones mounted to trailers had bows and covers over them, mostly the MEP00X series. The MEP80X units didn't get covered. It SHOULD be just fine out in the weather, but here in the civilian world we don't typically have all...

Seeking TMs and Advice on Nordic ECU Install

L0 is the same as Neutral, right? I can't find a single wiring chart after multiple searches that puts a green wire as anything other than ground (or green-yellow as protective earth in Europe, but same basic meaning). I'm still looking, but I can't find them. Now, I can understand if you're...

Seeking TMs and Advice on Nordic ECU Install

I went out and checked mine, did continuity test. I wired in a 5 wire pigtail and 30 amp 208 3 phase plug, wired according to mfg spec for the plug. The cable for the ECU only has 4 wires, and the 4th wire at the ECU end checked out as ground for me. That being said, on the generator side of...

    MEP- 803A All Weather Enclosure

There is a very large amount of airflow from the generator blowing the exhaust off to the side, so as long as there is plenty of space for it to blow the heat and exhaust out away from the unit and not back into the intake I don't see any issues. You could always make removable panels to hide...

    MEP 805B low frequency/hertz

side note, using anything with electronics in it or motors when a generator is running at the wrong frequency has a decent possibility of damaging things. Many items are designed specifically to use 60hz from the utility company's power for regulating internal electronics stuff and the wrong...

    MEP 805B low frequency/hertz

My guess would also be the meter is accurate most likely, but verifying the problem to make sure you really do have a problem and not just a bad gauge reading is pretty standard for working on any generator. While the TM mostly talks about it being a possible wiring issue (for unit level...

    MEP 805B low frequency/hertz

First step would be to verify with a multimeter that the frequency is actually what the display is showing. After that I would check the TM in the troubleshooting section and follow the flow chart for "CIM DISPLAY SCREEN VOLTAGE GAGE INDICATES VOLTAGE, BUT FREQ GAGE IS OFF SCALE". Basically...

    MEP-006A or what

Looks like the MEP-006A would be too small. From what I read, minimum is 72kw at 480v, the 006 is only 60kw. Some versions require up to 350KW https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tesla_Supercharger
