Currently waiting on the rubber brake line from the frame to the axle, I have the new lines on the axle, and waiting for the rain to stop to go install the lines on the frame. I bought the copper nickel alloy lines from Napa. Not cheap, but very easy to work with. 2 30" lines, one 51" line...
It was just the Master Cylinder kit for a 1964 jeep cj5, but they had only one in the entire U.S. in their computer, and it was in Alaska. Was $20, but shipping would have brought it up to what I paid for the aftermarket master cylinder which was only $36 on Amazon.
I thought the main reason for exhausts to be wrapped was to try to keep as much of the heat in the exhaust as possible so it exits through the exhaust pipe, rather than radiating into the enclosure.
Unless it's a properly designed system, you'd be creating temperature differences in the head/cylinder that it isn't designed to deal with. Might not cause problems, or it might destroy the engine from the new stresses from the temperature changes.
Because the shed is so small, try to seal off as much as you can to around the top of the generator. The idea is you want all of the waste heat to go up and out, and not give it any route to recirculate inside the enclosure. Large vents on the sides where the air intakes are, screened to...
Better radiator never hurts, but these tend to do okay once you take them to a radiator shop and get them thoroughly cleaned out, and flush out the rest of the system as well. Soldiers aren't known for being picky about what water they put into the cooling system when they're late getting back...
the 802 is only 5kw (6kw in reality), the 50 amp plug is good for 12kw. If you do the 30 amp plug you are good for 7200 watts, which is more than enough for this size generator.
The only reason to go 50 amp instead of 30 would be to allow for future upgrade of the generator to a 10-12KW unit...
I've been reading back through the forums and researching the brake system, every time the topic of bucking has come up it seems to always be the shock inside the brake actuator assembly.
As I understand it, the 7.7k and 10k half shafts use the same ends, as the 7.7k failed they got replaced with a 10k shafts. you have to replace the gears inside the hubs to go up to the 12k half shafts.
So last week went and picked up my first military trailer. I have an MEP-802A sitting around that's kind of a pain to move, so when a trailer for it showed up for sale in my facebook feed I jumped on it.
Went and picked up the trailer, decided I'd rather not tow it with it being unknown...
I just got a private message correcting me, it appears the REV HMMWVs above serial 300000 got the helical gears, so will be a little more common.
That being said, I don't know how much of those parts have hit the civilian/surplus market, so still going to be very rare compared to the standard...
The helicals are stronger and quieter at speed, but they also introduce a side load. I don't know what all they were used in, the only one I heard of was the H1 Alpha, so if that's the case you'd be looking at a limited production part made specifically for the civilian side of things. If they...
Not even a minute into it and it's a bunch of one sided, opinionated crap. Doesn't get any better the longer I watch, and lots of flat out lies.
Entire video he talks about how the HMMWV is a General Motors product...
Without seeing the vehicle in question, no idea if you're going to need a mechanic right away for it or not. Most of us end up doing our own wrenching, and own other vehicles as well. A lot of the parts on these are not on the shelf at your local auto parts store, so depending on what breaks...
The EUC takes anywhere from a couple weeks to a few months, and it has to clear before you can arrange to go pick it up.
Once the EUC clears you're looking at another month or two before the SF97 clears, so you won't be getting it titled/licensed until that comes through.
power steering in these...
Slightly better fuel consumption at full load, but that's comparing a 20kw unit to a 30kw unit. Running the 30KW unit at only 20KW load will be similar or even better fuel economy than the 20KW at full load. Plus it gives a nice safety margin on parts and output, less overall stress on the...
EUC can take a month or two to clear after the purchase, then another month or two for the SF97 to show up. Plus you have to make it street legal and pass inspections.
I know in my state I can purchase a 3 day trip permit to drive the vehicle without any paperwork done, but still needs...
Both Kohler and Cummins have worldwide parts distribution, as do John Deere and Kubota, so likely a toss up either way.
Nearby there is a dealer/distributor that covers both Kohler and Cummins generators that claim to have trained and certified techs. This is for marine application, but there...
