Generator Newbie Seeking Real World Experience and Feedback on MEP-805A vs. MEP-805B

I've got customers with single wide trailers with 20kw generators, and retired doctors with beach front homes running 6kw generators. Then there was also the guy that didn't want to have to manage the loads, so he put in a 40kw generator so he could keep his pool house operational when the...

Nordicair 3 ton heat element wiring question.

ran it 30 minutes, no problems showed up. Now I have a 6KW heater, just need to get the aircon recharged to see if it will work or not. If not I'll do something different with the trailer they're on.

Any advantages to M105a2 over M1101/2 besides price?

Downside of the 105s is they require air to operate the brakes, unless you swap to a civi axle with electrics. I think the 105s are about 2700 lbs empty, and the 1101/2 about half that, so the 240lbs payload and being slightly narrower aren't much of an offset to the extra weight you start...

Nordicair 3 ton heat element wiring question.

So to answer my own question... Yes, it can be done. I disconnected wires TB3-1, TB3-2, and TB3-3 from a terminal block directly in front of the heater elements inside the unit, behind the cover for the outlet portion. Third set of wires on each phase. Generator is running at 115% on the...

Nordicair 3 ton heat element wiring question.

So here is the question before I just start opening things up and poking around, I haven't physically looked at the heater element wiring, so not sure if this is even a valid idea or not, wanted to bounce it off people with more experience with these than I have. The heat elements in this are 3...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Moving the truck around, found an oily spot on the ground. Crawled under the truck, found diesel dripping from the driver's side of the engine. Looked at it from the top and found the front fuel return line between the injectors was rubbing against the flywheel on the alternator, and had...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

It's the Amtech helmet top, Legacy 2 door, tall version. http://www.amtechcorp.com/hmmwv.php I was actually just looking for a 2 man soft top, asked the local facebook group if anyone had one they could sell me, as my HMMWV is getting wet a lot (Pacific Northwest weather). One of the guys had...

Generator Newbie Seeking Real World Experience and Feedback on MEP-805A vs. MEP-805B

A lot of diesel engines have to run hot to burn the fuel completely. That's usually at around 50% or higher load. Running below that the engine is a little cool, the fuel doesn't burn completely, and oily fuel residue begins to build up in the cylinder head and exhaust system (looks like the...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Yeah, it worked out pretty good. 3 2x6s, some 1x3s for angle braces, half a dozen straps of various types, a tree, a pulley, and a little patience. The tractor made things easier, but originally I was planning on just using a come-along. I'm actually a pretty lazy person, so I like coming up...

New to me M116A2, former TPQ-36(v)7 Radar Trailer

For the master cylinder, here's the one I just installed on my trailer. Haven't had a chance to test it yet, but it fit how it was supposed to https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0766456JR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It's aftermarket, probably Chinese made, but priced...

    MEP-804a Voltage/Frequency troubles

https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?148791-MEP-802-and-803-Main-generator-tip/page2 There is a pic halfway down the page. This entire thread has good info for the 802, at least look at the pictures :)

    Another M116A2 owner here

I've been looking at them, will probably do one that I can use bolts and plates to clamp it on, and uses a pin to remove it from the mount. Rather not drill holes or do welding if I don't have to.

The taller tires will make the trailer sit more level, which will put a tiny bit more weight onto the tongue. I figure doing a spare tire on the tongue will take care of the rest, and I can always take the spare off to hook/unhook the trailer if I don't get a crank up front leg. A spare HMMWV...

    Another M116A2 owner here

Yes, light tongue is very bad. I've hauled a lot of trailers and never pulled one with a light tongue, but I've seen the results. I might end up doing that, but I think that might give me too much tongue weight. Right now center of gravity on the gen is just about the back of the fender. I...

    Another M116A2 owner here

Playing around with the trailer, put my MEP802A and a 3 ton Nordic Air ECU on it, roughly 1200 lbs between them. I can still reach the fuel fill on the gen with it like this, downside is tongue weight is a little light, only around 100 lbs. Hoping that will be taken care of when I get some...

    Help with rear hydraulic winch

Cadillac valve controls the fan clutch operation. Called that because part of the brand name for it is indeed cadillac. I believe properly it's called the Kysor-Cadillac solenoid, but cadillac valve is quicker and easier to say.
