    cooling system maintenence

Well, started the day by deciding to replace the radiator hoses on the deuce, since the hoses from the water manifolds were hard and leaking. Drain the coolant, the draincock screwed in, but no coolant..hmm. Tighten it up, find out the draincock has dirt packed in it. No biggie, used a scribe to...

    Check valve for oil filters?

Bjorn, when these engines were made and now, big differences. That's what all those SAE ratings are on the oil container. The additive packages added to the oils make the soot and other particulates be suspended in the oil and not drop out so they can be carried to the filter. When the multi was...

    Hawking a part

I wanted a heater inlet scoop, so, Devin had one that I copied. I had 10 of them made. They are made of 16ga steel. It cost me 130.00 for all 10, so, if anyone is interested, 13.00 is what they will cost, plus shipping. Please PM me if you want one, don't reply on this thread...or check the...

    IP lube line

The return for a bypass filter should be returned directly to the crankcase. Flow thru the filter isn't enough to be put back directly to a component that needs pressure and flow. Damage to the component will occur.

    IP lube line

That's 'cause you can make it probably alot cheaper than Memphis sells it for. It's only a 1/8 NPT on 1 end and #4 swivel on the other end.

RE: Cummins NHC 250 The hose from the top of the pan goes to the outer most port on the lube pump, the one from the bottom of the pan goes to the inboard port on the lube pump.

    oil mixed with alcohol

If the FDC is still hooked up, don't see a reason you couldn't run it, just do a 75 to 25% mix w/diesel, and it should ne fine. The diesel and oil will have enough lubricity to not hurt things. It doesn't separate in the drum does it?

    Help identify noise

Bjorn, These engines have a different head gasket than other engines I have been around. There is a groove or sipe from the fire ring to the outside of the head gasket right under each exhaust port. If the gasket is blown, it will make a very noticable tick tick tick, mostly at idle. It goes...

I'm planning engine swap to turbo - Which engine to get?

The piston cooling nozzles aren't cast into the block. Early ones were metal, later, 1980 and up, are nylon. Higher HP, 350 and above, engines have the places for the PC nozzles machined into them. The block casting is the same from a Piston cooled to a non piston cooled engine. Machining is the...

    Air horn sound

OK, here's my 2cents , Most all air horns have an adjustment at the rear for each trumpet. But, some horns just screw into the housing to a pre-machined depth...most Japanese/Asian trucks are like this. The ones that have the adjustment at the rear can be adjusted, but, if you try to adjust...
