Manual says the diff level is acceptable if within 1" of the bottom of the fill hole.
I forget where that is exactly, will have to look it up.
The rear hubs are tied to the axle pumpkin so will ultimately find their own level, and any excess will flow bacl along the axle To the pumpkin. But...
Keith, that wasn’t really the point I was trying to make, he could have gone a lot slower, even down to a crawl, because it appears he had the torque he needed to do so on that slope. Like in sand and snow, a little momentum can help carry you across fluctuating traction, but it doesn't last...
Sounds like you exceeded peak torque RPM, so you had torque to spare. The real test would be to stop on the hill then start again, noting the engine RPM at which it just starts to move again. I have a 3116 so that is where my math is mostly based around. I have not been able to find an...
Thanks!
I think the transmission is happier being more heavilly loaded. I suspect the pulse width control programming was never quite right or even optimized for the 7.8:1 axle ratio. Since I started playing with one of these and its hard shifting(mine is a cab and chassis at ~14K), I have...
Never seen one of those before. The ID plate in one of your pics says made for Cummins. Delco discontinued production of the 30SI, but you could probably still get parts for it, well maybe not for the dual volt circuitry/control portion… I way prefer commonly available/in stock, to expensive...
So all the other damage was done taking it off? On the forward side of the filter where the hard line from the lift pump enters the filter, there is a T fitting. Hook up a 100PSI gauge there and check the base fuel pressure there. You may have a regulator issue or clogged return path to the...
The leak location does sounds like the cab air ride height valve. if you look in past the front of the air filter, you should see a blue-grey box about 2” square with a lever in the middle pointing forward(9 Oclock). The lever attaches to a link rod that goes up to the arch that has the cab...
What year and version truck(A0, A1)? You only need to run the pump far enough to get over the balance point when lowering, gravity does the rest. When raising, how full were the air tanks? With full tanks(125PSI), you should be able to raise the cab twice...
Also as mentioned, S&S has been gone for a while. You should be able to find a history online of the LMTV contract and production(dates and manufacturers), that show that it is not possible for them to have produced this vehicle in 2023…
Allison should also be able to confirm production date...
Yea I would go with the VIN info lostchain listed and a reference for how that Information is broken down.
You could also pull up your engine info by entering the serial number into cats website. That should give you the build configuration and production year information for the engine. That...
See those metal tags? You should be able to ID the wires with them and associate the wires to their use.
Not including the nato plug wires, you have 4 main power wires.
24v to starter solenoid.
24v to polarity box
12v to polarity box
Ground to starter motor housing(and on to frame via...
Yep, 12 and 24v measured to ground on those large manual switch and disconnect relay terminals. Remember, voltage is only good when measured good with load applied. A nasty high resistance connection will still pass full voltage until you try and pull current thru it.
That 12V measured on the...
Well worst case a 100ah group 31 wet cell bank will try and draw 25A. If it is charged, the load will be nothing significant. Lighting load is 10-15A@24V. Not sure what the rest of the loads total up to @24v... so best case probably within its limit, worst case slightly overloaded...
That bearing is behind the C6. In order for those parts to make it out of that rear housin to the strainer, they had to pass thru the C6 clutch. I would expect when you get the C6 off the back of the trans, you will find similar damage as that documented in the thread linked above... it cost...
