All clear, Sir. I have time and can lend a hand (or both!) if it helps.
Also, maybe take other, smaller stuff to make more room in your truck, if that tent-crate doesn't fit too well in mine.
No idea how long the bed is, of a F150 4door LWB...? (But will find out soon!)

Kenny and Phil; my offer still stands! I had PM'ed you Phil: I think it makes things easier if I just stop by your AO sometime in the morning on Tuesday....?
Let me know.

The one you pictured still installed is not original. Don't know about the one from Erik's - although that NSN is correct. You can find the mil specs listed here and compare...
Shaft diameter is 2.375" and bore = 3.350". The housing depth is almost .75"; more then enough for the original mil...
Tom, I have seen the shot you took of the fork. Looks to be ready for retirement, IMHO.
Now, wear is never on one part alone, except for someone having installed a new syncro and left the old, worn fork...???
So how much is missing already from the syncro's shift collar - or disk in this case-...
Good observation! Thanks!
Drawing updated & post #4 edited, accordingly: 0.75" for the fitted lug (PROTRUDING height) would be the "ideal" case, when NEW. And possibly down to 0.71", for a wheel that has been removed/ installed maybe 100 times...:)
My super-programm...: stupid simple (old)...
Well, its known that good things take good time.... FINALLY my famous winch CAUTION, DO NOT.... plates did arrive! (sent on their way 08/23 and received 10/03 - talk about snail-mail...!)
Pic 1 shows the plate as it came, holes drilled- (NOT punched out...!)- and just pop-riveted in...
YES, a 8x14x4 TCM will work. Also a TTO A409 (=same size)
Not, what appears in the picture of that link! (that is a seal for linear or axial movement...)

1) Its not the lube!
2) Don't force it!
3) Its been rebuilt, right? So what did ME say....?
If nothing else I would take the cover off and try to shift the 2nd/3rd collar by hand. (described here). Could be a defective syncro.
Also inspect the shift mechanism for signs of wear; bent interlock...
Yep, that's typical; the ball bearing cage coming apart.
Prob. the shield was either missing or (also) shredded...!?
The good thing is, nothing of that is hardened stuff, and the gears are VERY robust so it won't do any real harm.
Just inspect the rear output shaft bearing races.
Good luck...
Thank you Gimpy!
And since this IS the want-items thread: I still need to find a GOOD bar/ handle for your super wheel socket...
Maybe I'm that lucky? ....and even be allowed to pay for it...! :D

If you mean the taper for the holes, I'm pretty sure they are straight but soon adopt that concave shape where the lug nut comes to seat. While tightening to 350 ft-lb or more these hardened nuts literally "roll" their shape into the soft-steel wheel.
