I don't know. I never used any thicker head gaskets. I have used head savers on forklift engines in the past. but I have not had favorable results. I opt to get another head in lieu of the head saver shim and gaskets. Never heard of a thicker head gasket for any 6.2. I don't know it all so...
I installed a set of North Star Pure lead batteries in my Crown of Thorns M1009. Picture is generic. They have 1500 pulse cranking amps. Awesome batteries. These batteries are the best I have ever used. I just put a pair of batteries in a service truck that does a lot of jump starting. I will...
IMHO used engines and transmissions in a 30 year old vehicle are a waste of time and money to reinstall into something else you want to drive. I sell them as cores anymore. Do it right the first time and move on. I just had a perfect running engine. 40K miles. Still would run perfect. But look...
I just received a call from the machine shop that the heads I removed from the perfectly good running 45 K 6.2 are cracked between the valves at several spots. As I learn more about old engines I learned that mileage plays very little in the factor whether an engine is good or not. Had I sold...

I don't know what this means. I am out of my league. They either work or they don't. I never tested them with an ohm meter. Hot wire and ground them. Puff the smoke rises immediately.
Watch out for a flicking light. I have seen the flicker on a few. They make a plug in kit to reduce flicker. And NOT sure about the 24volt advantage. Don't seem like it would be worth the effort.
YouTube. Enough said. You ask. In all respects do as you wish. It is not as easy as it seems. It may be fine for a trail rig. But an over the road vehicle. Not going to have much life if done incorrectly. Peace Out. Have a great day. That is a precision adjustment. Not an eye ball look and guess...
From reading the post above. IMHO. I think you should pay someone to put that center carrier in. You will need to dis assemble the entire axle assembly and it will need to be set up properly and reassembled correctly. Not to be a wise guy. But that is not an amateur job. Have a good day. Don't...
Cold day at the YOUPULLIT yesterday. I scored a rear gate from a 1990 Chevy K5 Blazer. They would not sell the rear glass out of the gate. I had to buy the gate. I only wanted the rear glass. Basically the gate is in excellent condition and is a power gate. But the wires were cut up front and...
Burned out fusible link on the right side behind the rear battery. Check all the wires under the buss bar. Something made the smoke and I am guessing it was there. It may still have the insulation and the wire is just burnt off inside. Everything needs checked. is the cable loose on the battery...
Did anyone suggest removing the glow plugs to get the motor spinning freely during your attempts to bleed the fuel system? It spins 20 times faster and purges the air in less time and strain on the starter and batteries. It is 20 minutes more work. But so is changing a burnt out the starter and...
I agree. In a nut shell that is how I can tell if I have bad 13 G glow plugs. On cold start up there should be no miss when the glow plugs are all firing. Thank you HASDRUBAL. Now I must get back to Gotham City. I think the Riddler is up to some new tricks on the Facebook page. Stay tuned for...
I always give the 3/16 spade on my glow plugs a little tweak with the pliers to make sure the spade is properly seated on the tab. I push it on until it is locked in place securely. I do have 3/16" spades in stock and have changed very few. Before I came on this page 4 years ago. I just dealt...
Did you look at the voltage regulator plugs to the alternators? Have they been changed? Like I said. I have seen the wires reversed because the replacement plug has the red wire in the opposite position. Happened to me once. i just kept using the test light and checked everything I could and...
