Trip went well, very well compared to the other group headed south right now.
I told Gimpy I wanted to drive when we stopped at the rest stop at the bottom of Kentucky. That truck has more get up and go than my 813 but I needed it running up Jellico. I passed an OTR truck going up and looked...
Maybe for you old man but Gimpy and I just delivered that 818 down to Georgia last night. I may be old too but I'm still making trips and memories.
;-)
Yes, Andy must have seen us in the chase car headed north cause Gimpy said he got a text asking if that was us at MM 94. I saw the rescue...
Seems like Christmas season recoveries are my 5-ton's tradition, I towed Rebel's home last year.
I guess the day after Christmas isn't the best time to be working next to a busy interstate. Crazy people out looking for deals.....
No pics then it didn't happen. Except for the weak throttle...
I was in a Cat D11 down in Kentucky once and have watched Ron run his M819. I would use a 819 to do an engine removal/install on the big Cat. My opinion (that's all it is) is that it is not big enough. Great truck for what it was designed for but swapping engine that big isn't it.

Didn't get to drive the truck in the field so it will still be clean. I did open the hood and look at the rebuild paint job on the Cummins. I'm going to have to get the chuck out and air the tires on the front.
Looks like the CTIS wheel fittings are leaking some.
Is it okay if the tires have a little mud on them when you pick the truck up? I may drive it around the field to give a two-year old girl a ride in it.
