Yes that's your air hydraulic pump. It has a bad internal seal and you are blowing hydraulic fluid out the air vent. Rebuild it. There is a thread that shows the part you need and the process. It's inexpensive.
I looked there is a small relay to the right of the day tank. Thats what activates to allow more fuel to flow into the day tank. Check that. I have had them go bad on the 60kw gens. I havent done much with the 30kws.
Oil pressure at 80 it should be fine to drive. They are quirky vehicles though. Oil dipstick on drivers side of engine you have to raise the cab. Oil fill is by the coolant overflow behind the cab.
If it were me I would relocate it. It's a nice feature. If you are not hauling a heavy load you may not really need it though. If you don't put your location city and state down the mods will tell you to do it.
The alternator makes electricity when the truck is running. The exciter relay appears to be functioning properly. You have a damaged component somewhere or a wire worn thru causing a short creating a large load on the alternator. What is the voltage at the 12v alt output, 24v alt output both...
The alternator needs an exciter voltage to start making voltage. You need to look for heat and find where that high current is being drawn. You can have one of the mail power wires worn thru somewhere. It could be alot of things. Disconnect the batteries and start ohm metering things out to...
I wouldnt run it like that you will cook another alt. Measure the regulator voltages in comparison to the alt output voltage. There really isnt anything on the truck that should draw high current. Get to the box under the cab and see whats going on. You could have a shorted battery or something...
The mep-006 has a day tank its a square box above the injection pump. Fuel is fed from the main tank or aux feed to the day tank and th ip feeds and returns to the day tank. There is a relay that controls fuel feed to the day tank. I think the 004 feeds and returns to the main tank so this would...
Make sure the correct relays are in there. There is a combination of 12v and 24v relays used they all look the same. Some relays require the center connection some dont. I only buy replacement relays with the center connection though. The panel cover has a diagram you have to read it carefully...
You may be able to clean it up and resolder any bad connections. Its worth a try. I believe the Allison dealer can reprogram the correct part number to work on your truck. Or you can find a mil replacement that came out of the same series truck.
I have a set of the newer style rear wheel valves and mounts that don't slide off. They are the lmtv style valves that all screw together not like the old ones that had the friction mount off the short stem coming out of the hub.
