Hey, those filters seals/cans really made me feel bad, I removed the entire deal to find what I was doing wrong. I found one was "double gasketed" and the other seal was broken but I could not get them out of there working upside down and backwards. The square ring seals are a pain. I fixed all...
Wipe all the heavy stuff off with newspapers then just use Dawn and Hot water and/or a low pressure HF pressure cleaner. It cleans oil off of ducks and did clean everything on my truck.
Skysol is really nasty stuff. It will melt your ID badge! The A&P's still use it on large aircraft.
Here is...
I don't know about the M35A3 CAT engine air intake, different than the M35A2 multifuel?
............... but Refer to post #46
Did you ever wonder why the multifuel air intake mushroom rock filter cap is shaped like that? Don't leave it cinched on tight, so it can be grabbed off and turned...
28 seconds in search function with "spring perch" .........................

That is one of the problems. The link works good when accessed thru the link in post #30 but these things are hot, like in excel, and do not like being copied to anywhere. That is why I say they are "gone". Maybe they are not "gone" just hiding in there someplace. Neat LMTV hydro...
I did make an attempt at placing air pak study resources in one thread and put a title it so it could be found. A lot of people expended effort to teach and show, show and tell was always my favorite subject.
The new, short style repairs is a sticky but not the "older" style. The treatise...
Thread should be renamed to FMTV/LMTV hydrolifts + coolant so one day it can be found again. Those really good pictures will be hard to find. Those good photos at https://www.flickr.com/photos/advent...57669897327435
will be gone too?
How about you just study a thing you want, long time GI?
You just asked a question of the most learned people.
If money is no object then I will be happy to sell you a
really nice one of whatever it is you want,
for more money than I have.
But you can not title that one either.
Or how about the...
One would see the MC leak out of strange places if one kinked over the vent so she could not breath.
On the other hand one must remove the brake MC vent to that other system. That is in the PS database.
Also if you put a remote MC reservoir then one should follow this learned advise, first...
On and off for daze thinking about a perceived crankcase oil level predicament.
So I looking at a probable miss-aligned oil dipstick bracket and CAT 3116 engine owners questions of what the heck is the real crankcase level and is it proper or NOT?
So I see something in my magazine to present...
The Garwood "self recovery" winch on M35A2 is not for, or was not meant to be, for pulling stumps.
So I say the big secret and be quite then after, ..............yeah, maybe.
Winch operation is a two or more soldier job, and would be good to lock the hood open.
The thing is high maintenance...
It is tough learning how to be a machinist when one ain't one.
Speed and feeds and pressure and torque.
Don't break stuff. the setup is everything.
Be careful.
It was built with 50 year old tooling. Think of that.
Military stuff gets painted with a brush with whatever is available. The Carc don't go away.
You could put the cosmoline on it and save it up for a thousand years.
Rattle-can whatever is rotting and enjoy your trucks.
This is a tactical military vehicle and it served. Don't make it too pretty...
