    Deuce runs only at idle

    I had this problem on a LDT-465-D which hasn't run in 9 years. Filters didn't help. As a last resort, I help open the throttle and beat on the injection pump with a hammer. Sure enough the engine sped up and now runs normally.

    Thank you, but Carnac’s pdf’s have THOUSANDS of trucks listed, just he and firefinder didn’t get around to uploading thousands more deuces. This info is SUPER VALUABLE to come up with year of manufacture from VINs as well as Army registration numbers from VINs.

    Digging around, the highest Studebaker VIN I can find is 1959 M49864. A 1955 is M38281. So maybe they were doing 5000 per year. So yours would maybe be a 1960 or 1961, right before the M35A1 came out with the LDS427 engine.

    Your VIN is M56477 and that would have never changed in military service officially. Who knows what happened along the way. Personally I would have a problem with this, and I would re-title the truck so the VIN matches the frame stamp.

    You are quite correct, there are 3 versions of the PDP (power distribution panel) that were used on the FMTVs, this is the second generation, and is considered the worst due to the soldered connections being lead free.     No. I assumed you had a closed cab, which seeing your other thread, I now know is not the case. Just to be sure , you are looking for the builder plate hole pattern in the center of the firewall, near the starter foot pedal, right? Like I said, the frame serial number will tell the story.

    Opinions on under rear fender condenser

    I would switch to the under fender unit in a heartbeat. AMG went that way due to already marginal airflow through the cooling stack. The Red Dot condenser bolted to anything and everything was a sandbox quick fix.
