Looks like a bit less HP than the original engine. Some light tuning can probably adjust for that though. I would get all the kinks worked out prior to doing it though. I find the truck useful as a boom truck around my lot but not really practical for a recovery operation that would require more...
Check all the grounds. There are 2 connectors on the back of the wtec computer. Which is right behind the selector. They seem to have a habit of backing out a bit. I was changing my light switch and mine came right off.
It's slow as molasses I have no idea how it was ever made to tow another 22k truck especially offroad. That being said the a2 really opens up with a better flowing air filter and 3 turns on the fuel screw. The trucks handicap is that its really heavy.

I have complete new rear sway stabilizer bars they have the rubber insert in each end. The ones that mounts on the back of the rear axle it looks like a big C.
The a2 5 ton with the fuel turned up and in low range 1st gear will pull and not bog like the 250 motor. Once that turbo is spooled it just pulls and pulls.
Low range put it in drive 1 and push the gas pedal. I don't know how your higher rpms will affect trans shifting. I think when you get to 2500rpms max if you do, you will want to upshift to 2 manually. If your on dirt deflate your tires to around 40psi for better traction. Is it a plate sled or...
Most trucks don't have the light its blanked over. Maybe there's some system in place that triggers the alarm. First I woukd verify engine temp with an ir thermometer. When it's at 160 and buzzing, unplug the engine temp sender and see if the buzzing goes away.
All those trucks GL was moving over the last few years they were keeping 70 or so percent of the money. They bought the truck centers for military truck offsite resale. That's a huge loss in revenue not having the truck sales. Plus they are still paying Truckcenter overhead. With the truck sales...
Check the 2 fuses under the dash by the steering column. The light will stay on with a stored fault, which can eventually clear itself or a hardware failure like bad ecu. If one of the fuses is blown, if you replace it and it immediately blows again when you turn the trucks power switch on, then...
Maybe some dumdum added oil there instead of coolant. If there's no oil anywhere else in the cooling system. And no coolant in the oil. I would drain and flush the cooling system and then change the oil and go from there.
If you are having issues and want to bypass a relay or some issue where a relay won't engage to start the truck or operate a feature you can make up a small wire with a spade connector on each end and use it to bypass the relay. And here's a pic of the vim box inside. 6 bosch style relays and 2...
If an item does not sell sometimes GP will re-run it at a lower starting price just to get rid of it. They want to control the flow and keep prices up but the gov is dumping so much stuff they are overloaded. Stuff is stashed all over the place at civilian sites. I spoke with one of the GP guys...
Technically GL owns the stuff and you are buying it at their auction from them not the gov. In the contract the gov sells it all to GL and there are resale requirements per contract of GL re-selling it at public auction to the highest bidder. I think alot of the stuff GL does is fishy. You could...
