Drag Link tie rod replacment ..

That video shows wear in the pit-man arm and the tie-rod end. I would replace the tie-rod end and tighten it well. Lift kit? I am not a fan of lift kits so I am not a good guy to ask. But from watching the video you posted. I would suspect both parts are badly worn and need replacement. Try the...

What is going on with this Flexplate? Out of round and bent? Yikes...

I was just trying to help you out. I have a Cadillac transmission that needs getting rebuilt and I was checking on it and wanted to ask about this set up. I see guys going to the 700R on the CUCV's. Back 20 years ago. Everyone was buying the CUCV TH400 from me as fast as I could get them in and...

What is going on with this Flexplate? Out of round and bent? Yikes...

I cannot answer that. I will call Minetree transmission in Myerstown PA. So I will ask if it should have washers. He said NO that is NOT right. It should NOT have washers. Also if it has a 3 bolt torque converter it should have a 3 bolt flex-plate. He said that the 700R flex-plate has no weight...

What is going on with this Flexplate? Out of round and bent? Yikes...

Look in the parts manual. No washers shown there. I never put any washers on any flex-plates of the CUCV's I worked on. I have changed quite a few flex-plates.

What is going on with this Flexplate? Out of round and bent? Yikes...

I must be doing it all wrong. I never used any washer to maintain any gap between the torque converter and the flex-plate. I always replaced the 6 short M10 bolts with new ones and never used them over because of the locking material that is imbedded in the threads. I bought a box of 50 from...

Drag Link tie rod replacment ..

I doubt it. It should be tight and very difficult to turn. Without looking I would say it is worn out. It should NOT turn smooth. It should NOT turn it all. It is supposed to pivot under load NOT turn. A new one is very difficult to turn and I doubt that you can turn a new one. Good Luck. I...

Drag Link tie rod replacment ..

Get a pickling fork and hammer it in there. It is a tie-rod fork. You can get them at an auto parts store. Or just burn the nut off and give the knuckle a hit with the hammer and the stud end of the tie-rod will fall right out. The have tie-rod pullers that will help get it off. but in this...

    Horn isn't working

I have Terminus M1009 that does the same thing. It is a resistor up top of the fuse box that is bad. I never cut mine but I was told to cut the resistor wire. I have the relay pulled for now. I do not need the horn on my off road vehicle. I need a midget to get up there and cut that wire. Or...

Inner fenders for my 1986 CUCV Blazer

The inner fender apron side near the frame/engine nor any part of the inner fender apron is frame mounted. The inner fender apron attaches to the outer fender inner structure and the cab floor assembly. You may have to drill holes to mount oil cooler lines. Not sure what you are referring to.

what branch/unit did your cucv serve with?

It's a Trump thing. No Foreign Out Laws Wanted Here. But that should be the same number that is stamped on the ID tag on the drivers door frame. Registration Number.

    86 M1008 Injection Pump Bolts

Been there. Removed the pump and put it in a drill press. drilled them out. re tapped the holes and reinstalled the pump. 1 month later the pump gave out. Now going forward If the pump comes off I send it out and have it rebuilt. That work of getting the broken screws out took hours. Never...

    M1009/Blazer Tailgate Cables

You need my home brewed and baked window channels and a recipe on how to clean and lube the sash and guides. I think I will have to cook up a batch for you. They be some fine vittles. Put that tailgate back into day 1 mode. Happy Holidays.

    M1009/Blazer Tailgate Cables

But did you get the tension /guide springs? That seems to be the secret to the cables stowing correctly.

    Swollen glow plug removal

I avoid Wellmans like the plague. They have swelled is 2 days. And I have used 13 G AC Delco and they have lasted 15+ years. A few AC's have swelled but I never had them all swell like I did the Wellmans. Good Luck. Happy Holidays.

    Swollen glow plug removal

I have been using a 3/8" glow plug socket. If they are swelled. All the rules change. By what ever means available. Up to and including removing the fuel delivery nozzles, batteries and inner fender aprons. What ever it takes. it seems the right rear ones like to swell the most. But 100%...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

This is a pile I cut and split. It is a complete 28 ton tri-axle load of hardwood. The picture would not post and now it posted 4 times. Now I can not load any pictures. But I had some good ones with CUCV's in them.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

In the summer it warms you 3 and 4 times. Been there and done that many times. Still one of my favorite past times. That is what keeps me is great shape.

Who Uses the Recommended Starting Procedure?

That can very much contribute to that issue. it loses prime and drops the fuel. it is hard on the entire starting system. My experience ahs been if the throttle shafts are leaking may as well get the pump rebuilt. These trucks are not getting any newer. And other internal injection pump parts...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

If it were not for the wood cutting and grunt work. I would sell my Crown of Thorns M1009. That is all I use it for. It is not a trailer queen or a show piece. I is an American built implement of war and destruction. Built to be used and abused. Driven long and hard and then parked till called...
