Just remember that empty, an M105 weighs around 2700#. You should be okay towing an empty one, particularly an A3 which has surge brakes.
I'm not worried about getting it going, I'm worried about stopping it in an other-than-normal situation.
The M105 is somewhat deceptive size-wise unless...
Aha, another USMC marked M1009!
Did you base yours on specific vehicles or general Marine markings? I have been trying to find some pictures of Marine CUCV's but with no luck other than one M1008.
Mine is ugly and will be repainted in the near future. The high visibility door markings will...
Glad your recovery went well.
I will say that even though the GL folks offer no assistance whatsoever, they were very friendly and patient while we took two hours plus to get one 105 onto our trailer (the second one took about 15 minutes!).
It was an interesting experience, even with three...
Here are a few more shots of the unloading. These trailers really are nice and looked good, so pretty in fact that in short order they were on the back of our trucks in the parade!
And yes, mine had USMC stenciled on it before it even left the farm.
I also found that the M813...
Nobody questioned your veracity. I wasn't talking about Marine trucks, but Air Force specifically, my response was to Marco1031 since that was what he asked about.
Cheers
Okay, I talked to Sarge about the Air Force door marking today. He told me the following-
Typical # looks something like 72K123
The first two number are the year the vehicle was taken on USAF inventory, usually the vehicle year, but not necessarily.
The letter denotes type of vehicle, as in-...
If I correctly recall what Sarge (who ran a USAF motorpool for many years) told me, K stands for tactical trucks, and C was for admin vehicles. I will ask him tomorrow (Sunday) when I see him.
Cheers
I'm going to use Gillespie paint with the "full repaint" 3-colour camo pattern (which looks much better). Two for one painting sounds good to me!
Cheers
Welcome aboard Brother, Semper Fi!
If you think brown is ugly, just be glad it wasn't pink (and I do mean pink, a lascivious shade thereof) like Pawnshop's.
His has recovered now, but will eternally carry the name Pinky....:-P
Cheers
Here is what was on my 1009, including original door markings and those modified to suit an old Marine (interesting what you can do when you have a spare hour and some stick-on lettering). Those white door panels are reflective, so not very tactical. This one was apparently a range truck on...
Take your wires from the civilian plug and put military ends on them (or I suppose you could just use the right sized civilian connectors).
The single side of the Y goes out to the lights, the twin side would take an input for each light from either the military plug on one side, or the civvie...
Sam, whilst chatting with Sarge I mentioned the lengthy exercise involved in getting that front 105 onto the trailer and that we hadn't quite worked out the off-load process.
Using subtle nudges I directed the conversation to the point of quietly saying something along the lines of "Sure would...
It is nice to know that you take both aesthetics and well thought out safety engineering into account on even minor parts. The thought of a non-crumpling B/O light mount hurtling toward the unfortunate denizens of your vehicle is too horrifying to contemplate! :-P
It is nice to see things...
Well, I would have said "Yes!", bet the other locals would too, but looks like you had all the fun without us! ;-)
Looking forward to seeing your new toy.
Cheers
I called it that because the book said it was for leveling and/or stabilizing the trailer when not attached to the tow vehicle!
MWO 9-2330-324-23-1 specifically refers to it as the "rear stabilizer assembly" and gives instructions for use as such.
Thanks for the C clamp tip, that will help a...
Edit- (Looks like y'all were posting like madmen while I was writing this since I am s-l-o-w, so bits are redundant but I am too lazy to edit it all out!)
Thanks for posting this Sam.
It was a good (if long) trip, and big "Thank You's" go to Reloader64 who not only provided truck and...
I don't know if that works for us peons. I tried everything including cussing to get the title of "Recovering Sarges SGPRSMD" to actually say that since I misspelled it SPGRSMD. No luck, it refused to change. I was told that once someone replies, the original poster can no longer edit the...
This is the M13 decon kit that KyCUCV refers to.
Close to the same size as a jerry can, fits in the same holder, lighter since one side (green in the picture) is a hollow box for the hoses/brushes. The black side is the fluid tank.
It is not designed to be permanently mounted, but carried in...
