You're welcome!
If you want to come down and ride in the parade (it is a short one, but fun, small town America) rather than MV it this far, you are welcome. Like Sam says, we got extra seats.
Cheers
Parade forms up at the Liberty Hill Elementary at 2pm
Parade starts at 3pm, ends at Jr High
Christmas festival to follow, 4pm to 6pm
Address is 1400 Loop 332, Liberty Hill TX 78642 so you can Mapquest it for directions.
LibTimothy, were you down this way with your Pinzie on a trailer a couple...
Welcome aboard!
You would be welcome in the LSMVPA. Several years ago the guys referred to it as the jeep club, because most of them had smaller vehicles. Sarge was the lone weirdo with his "huge" Deuce. When I showed up with the Unimog, they thought it was a big truck. Then I drove up in...
Having installed one of the plates I bought from DABTL, I will add that it is good quality and fit perfectly. Time consuming to put in, but worth the effort .
Here is what we put it in-
Ha! :-D
Well, the Marine stuff starts out pretty, it just doesn't stay that way for long! Mine will eventually look like a Marine truck mostly driven by USAF folks. But not Sarge's USAF folks, who acted more like Marines...
Or were you talking about me...?
Cheers
Here it is on the new shoes.
They are BF Goodrich 33-12.50R15.
Bigger than stock, yes, but they don't look that much different, I like big tires, and it's my truck! And they are not silly big on there.
Those who assured me that 12.50s would absolutely not rub on a stock 1009 were almost...
As always I stand to be corrected, but as I understand it the M811 is just a chassis/cab.
The M809 is 'standard' wheelbase (179"), M810 is short WB (167"), M811 and M812 are long WB (215").
With that in mind, it could be whatever type of truck depending on what one chooses to mount on it...
From the way I feel sometimes, mine was all diagonally across a ploughed field. At speed... With no seat belt...
(Okay Spellcheck, plowed then! But plough is also correct, just ask Sarge).
Just recently managed to slide across the 50 line, and no one is more surprised than I.
I...
But this is not just another KLR, it is an M1030B1. They are not common, therefore the value is what a collector puts on it.
You could try converting a standard KLR into an M1030, but good luck finding all the military specific parts, and even then you would just have a fake.
Sooo...:razz...
I guess getting two new-in-the-bag for $5 each was a good deal for me...;-)
Didn't know the metal spouts worked with the plastic cans, thanks for that tip.
Cheers
Thanks for the leads.
IAS has a nice .50 chute (A/C type), but alas no 7.62 chuting.
Crane has the chuting but want $100 a foot (or part thereof), plus $100-$159 each for the three fittings needed, adding up to approx. $659 plus shipping!
I will keep looking.
Cheers
Nothing really..
New position at work, and getting other vehicles prepped for a lot of local events for Veterans Day, have kept me too busy to really do anything significant with the V.
I am going to take a few days off in the near future and see what can be done. My new goal is...
Welcome aboard!
Just reading old posts can keep you busy for weeks. And with enough poking about amongst them, the answer to almost any question is there. Enjoy!
Cheers
Well, we have the Liberty Hill parade in December, the Boy Scout parade in February, Texas Independence Day parade in March, and.... :-D
For SOME reason my girlfriend didn't want to ride in my 5-ton in that pretty white nurses uniform, so she rode with Rick instead!
He didn't mind...
Yeppers, I have plastic jugs on mine too. I tie them to the mirror frame with a bit of string to keep them from blowing off in the wind that usually accompanies rain around here.
Cheers
Normal if your vacuum lines are bad! :-P
Check/replace the small rubber lines that run from the top front of your engine and down the passenger side. They commonly look like sponges, and seal just as well. I had exactly that issue with my 1009, cost me a staggering $2 to fix it with new...
I'm sure folks will notice the guntruck replica right off, so here are a few more pics.
Ed worked like a fiend getting that truck built in time for the parade, and a lot of the paint wasn't quite dry yet! It is not finished, but complete enough for its debut.
It is not an actual replica of...
For the same reason M35's and such fetch what we think are outrageous prices in Europe - availability.
It is no easy feat to the inexperienced to find a Mog in Europe and have it shipped over, then get it through Customs, so most will only buy one that is already here.
Add to that the fact...
