emr, what proves fact? what you read in a book? (lmao) or what you have done/seen/heard/driven.......? i did not say that the 6.2 was DESIGNED to be a multi, i said it was capable. shure all diesels will run on alternates but the hardend H&R impllied something. i do agree with you on the fact...
mud guppy,
they may not have been classified as multi fuel but they are definitely capable of it, i dont think uncle sam would have shelled out the extra coin to have all mil-spec stanadine DB2 pumps outfited with a hardend head and rotor if he wasn't expecting these trucks to be ran on...
that still dose not support your reasoning as to why glow plugs cannot be used............. the 6.2 dose not have as "gracefull" of an injection system, but is multifuel capable, it has GP's.........
keith,......HUH? direct injected engines have a lower comp. ratio. The I.D.I. 6.2 & 6.5 engines have 20.5-22.5 to 1 ratio, where a D.I. 5.9 cummins has a ratio of 16.1.
"A glow plug would cause issues with cold starting pressures in the cylinder head. At arctic temps, the air is very dense"...
Check the starter relay behind the dash under where the radio would be, its the metal one, usually mounted upside down so it dose an excellent job of collecting water.
They suck, lol. Your deuce should start just fine with your intake heater. If you already have a block heater or don't have a power sorce for one, try adapting a intake heater from a 5.9 (6bt) cummins. And if I forgot to mention glow plugs suck !
when i bought new nuts for my wheels on my deuce ( 96 total ) i got price quotes from 2 different FASTENALL stores 30 min apart (each side of town) the first store was $80, the second store was $35.............WTF? definatly do some searching, belive it or not, i buy a lot of pre-packaged bulk...
I can not belive there are three pages to this post and nobody said PATIENTS for all the little things to fix so it is suited to you needs/wants, the time to find the parts, and most of all the time it takes you to get where your going ! LOL, there big, heavy and slow but i love mine !
i am w/ PWB. bearing grease is too thick. lithium grease is best, they may operate w/ bearing grease but you run the chance of them not fully engaging therfore making them strip out easier. lubing the sealing O-ring with bearing grease is a good idea though.
the fuse block is the same as civi. the wire harness is the same as civi it just has an additinal harness piggybacked on to it for the mill spec. GM did use mulltiple differnt harnesses for differnt insturment clusters and engine combos, this is where the hard part is. i removed my harness and...
Not shure in where in Michigan you are but I have both manuals with all of the wire diagrams and troubleshooting charts from the drmo if you need to borrow. Hope you can figure it out w/o them as they at not the easiest to understand. Good luck.
