Marking its territory, I love it!
My original M1008 would do that and it was the lift pump. It would leak into the crossmember, the fan would blow it back on the pan rail, then it dripped off of the right rear corner of the block.
All of mine had/have the rectangle filters. I agree the spin on is a much nicer filter to work with and has more capacity. I should look at swapping mine out. Mine have been starting down to 14 below without being plugged in or heated in any way. The rectangle filter, while not the best design...
If it runs that good once started and is just hard to start cold, I doubt it is your injectors. In all probability, it is not the pump either, unless you have a seal allowing air to get into the system.
My bet would be your glow plugs are not getting the job done for you or you have a fuel...
They had one at Jefferson CIty when I picked mine up. I asked about it and I think it was Westech that told me they replaced broken windows with sliders cheaper than they cold buy the glass. I think it would be a great asset in the summer with no a/c. Glen
A much les complex one to use, remember that it is talking radius and not diameter. A M1009 with 3.08 gears at 2200 rpm on 31" (15.5") in this case, runs 65.9 pretty comfortably. You will pay stiffly in fuel mileage for speeds above that. 33" tires will give you 70 at 2200.
The rest of the...
The rear is a 14 bolt GM with a Detroit Locker.
Your gear ratio will ultimately depend on your tire height. Jump on one of the online rpm; gear ratio; tire height calculators and target running 2000-2200 rpm at 70. Glen
I am glad you are still walking and talking amongst the living.... I agree with most of the guys, better to snag another shell and start over. You know what's good on the one you have, no dummy part pulling here....
A few weeks ago a member jumped on the forums from the Salt Lake City area with three M1009s to sell. One went to Denver. I have a friend in that area and gave him a call. He recruited a friend who has rebuilt his Blazer several times since buying it new in 1985.
They went out and previewed...
I always loved the M715, it looked so much heavier duty than it actually was. I had four and miss driving them in the summer. I always wanted to do diesel swap, with those super low gears, I thought a 6.2 would be perfect. The extra rpm ability would not hurt any either. I often wish I had kept...
My first M1008 came from a Sheriff's Office, I paid 700 dollars for it and they tell me they made money. They recently bought a deuce, am hoping... they paid a dollar for this one. It is super clean, it had been parked in a hanger at the airport for years. Glen
My Blazer started at -4 this morning, fired right off, a little sluggish for about ten seconds. My M1008 fired right off too, but it was flat fogging black smoke and did not smooth out for maybe a minute. That worries me as it has always fired right off and fell to a nice smooth idle, it would...
With the torque and weight of a 6BT you are gping to want a Dana 60. Depending upon your tire height, you may be best off to do the M1008 axle swap somebody linked to earlier. There are a few members that have swapped the 6BT in, the 4BT seems beter suited because of the weight and relatively...
