This topic seems to creep up every month or two....I get a kick out of all the reasons why prices go up, down, pulled, canceled....it's a business guys, as I have said every time this topic comes up. It's not here so we can get $1200 HMMWV's. While that would be nice, it's not going to happen...
This can be debated all day....as I tell folks all the time, the only thing that is standard is that nothing is standard.
i don't know about anyone else...but doing what I do for the AF allows me to see HMMWV's across the entire spectrum, state to state, base to base, service to service...
All the current trucks that are Tan have green interior paint. Only the ragtops are all Tan in and out.
By current, I mean M115x, M1165 etc...we are not ordering anymore rag tops that I'm aware of.
softskin is out....
Oh....your diffs, you would, need to check it per the TM. But these days, not worth sending out. New 2:73's are about $350.00ea....you need 2. But I would just drive it till it Grenades.
What "Action" said....and let me add, you also need 12k geared hubs and new 12k caliper brkts.the spline count is not the same for 10.3k and 12k halfshafts. You can change out the upper spur gear when you tear down you geared hubs.
The 12k HS's are cheap, that's for sure..at least the small...
Your not going to find anything that moves the amount of air you need better then the factory setup.
its been engineered folks. The 6.5TD uses the same setup and also a geared fan drive with thermostatic fan clutch on the M115x series trucks. Just leave what's in there and it will do what's it's...
Never heard of them....and I'm in the HMMWV business.
im always Leary of companies that do this conversion.
its not hard to do what they are saying, and I've never been a fan
of companies that say they went through all the electrical and mechanical components.
what I see is them just painting...
There is a thick seal between the roof and A-pillar, and there is a another between the roof and the C-pillar support at the sponsons. That one is like an inch thick and 2in wide. Then you have 2 turret bearing O-rings that are 90% of the time are missing or rotted.
The thermostatic switch just opens and closes based on temp....I've seen more then one fail.
the fan comes on when it's denied 24v at any point from the thermo switch to the TDM to the Cadillac valve solenoid.
Quick flash means you didn't get glow plug ignition...just like when it's hot. I have successfully reset the EESS buy removing the power and letting it sit for a few minutes....unless it's a hard fault.
Of course you can...but you don't want too. You will regret it. Chemical strip....treat it like an airplane.
aluminum starts to oxidize immediately if not treated. And I can almost guarantee you that you would find a shop that can acid wash and alodine and entire truck.
You could have a cracked or broken fan blade from you broken belt....out of balance fan blade will on do this when engaged. As far as engagement goes...assuming everything in the fan clutch is good, you could be loosing fluid flow from your PS pump at high RPM...meaning the pump might be...
One would think there is a reason the install kit includes a NEW steel gen mount with a 12in mounting bolt?...
that aluminum mount won't last long with the weight of that 200amp....also, the 200amp kits are dirt cheap.
