well that's good to know. Now, does anybody have any idea where I can get the rear main carrier gasket from. I know I can get the rear main from a few places, but I understand that there is a carrier gasket in there also. I believe it was gimpyrob who just changed his out and dropped a wrench...
Many of you probably have read about my adventure coming home from WI with an overfilled tranny. Thereby spewing 90wt all over the clutch. My plan is to just clean it up with some brake clean until I can get a new rear main and rear main carrier seal ordered in. Then I'm gonna drop the tranny...
Mine must be the ball type, because the hole through the clevis goes straight through what would be the center of the solid pin. I didn't see any spring loaded ball in there though. I'll have to pull everything out and see what I can come up with to hold it in place.
Thanks tm, I appreciate...
Howdy all,
I just brought the deuce home from Sparta WI last Tuesday, as some of you may have read. This weekend I figured I would go over the brakes of the truck and make sure everything checks out OK. I pulled all 6 hubs and inspected the brake pads and wheel cylinders. Happily, everything...
m16ty and grounded,
Thanks for the input. The sealing of the front axel was my mistake, I thought that all of the axles needed it. I guess I was only remembering part of the posts about redoing the axle seals. As it stands now, after a day of working, I have 4 of the 6 brake drums inspected...
Hello,
I started to rip into my brakes today on the new deuce. I figured I would do a thorough inspection before I tried to adjust and bleed to brakes. I pulled off the drivers side front drum and inspected everything, so far so good.
I read on the forunm, when re-installing the drum and hub...
Chief,
That's good to know if I have to run the set in the dead of winter. Just how cold does it have to be though. For the most part in Ohio, we really don't see below 20 too often. It happens sometimes but not a lot in my area.
Ohio here, about $185 for commercial plates with 23000 GVWR, and my commercial policy with a farm vehicle stipulation, unlimited use and mileage is $68/6months
I would call it a paperwork snafu. At least it wasn't denied, just not approved. Like mentioned, try again in a little while with another sale. Maybe the second time will work
ButterDiesel,
I can't speak for the other MV's but from what I've read, you can get a turn-key vehicle and still have something to tinker with. I haven't heard of anybody who doesn't have to tinker with their MV no matter the condition.
Justin,
It was quite a thrill, but I could have avoided the whole mess if I had just drained some of the tranny fluid before I pulled out. I knew better but just got lazy and said "It'll be ok"...IT WASN"T!!!
You would have to talk to someone with way more experience than me, but the easiest way to fix the problem is to load it up about every hour or so for a little bit to make the engine heat up.
Check out the smokstak forum for some more information. Those guys specialize in engines particularly...
Loophole???? She may be a hillbilly from WV, but she's a smart one, or at least she knows how much of a smart*ss her husband is. Because she set that straight right off the bat. I'm not aloud any further south than KY on no farther north than PA, so I'm, kinda limited.
But she did say that...
Jake0147, thanks for the information. I'll clean up the base of the compressor, and tighten the little oil line going from the base up, and keen an eye on it. That oil that came out was after about a 350 mile straight run, so the compressor was working pretty hard I'm sure, plus I aired up the...
