If you understand that these trucks are expensive then why wouldn't you pay to get it done correctly? I carry several credit cards when I'm driving my trucks just to make sure I can get them towed home or someplace safe. It runs around $15-20/mile in this area. I've done it three times.

Surprised no one has really ripped on you yet about trying to drive one with known brake problems. I've got one without brakes and although it is fine on my property I would not dare take it out on the road and I wouldn't sell it to someone who was going to. All it has is leaky wheel cylinders...

Ditto on the old mechanics trick. Some days I think my backhoe is that way and I remove the cover and tap on it and she starts right up.
