Can a Deuce to tow a Deuce on a trailer without a CDL ? Yes.

I'll admit I didn't look at all you figures either but you cannot go over 26k and remain under the CDL limits if you are commercial no matter how you work the numbers. The law states that you cannot exceed 26k in a commercial vehicle without CDL.

    Oldest deuce??

:ditto: Atleast hndrsonj started a thread instead of hijacking the other one like I did .

What is involved in converting a deuce to a tanker?

I had a tanker truck one time and there is no noticable difference in the suspention or frame. Oilcan and I have been trying to work out a deal on the firetruck bed I've got but if it falls through I've been thinking about installing the 400Gal stainless tank off of it and mounting it on a...

Try Using U-Ship to Move MVs

While I don't advertise to haul stuff I do have a tractor/trailer (to haul my own equipment) and will take a hauling job every now and then. I know what it cost to run a rig up and down the road and I don't see how some of these people price hauling as cheap as they do. I guess alot of times...

Legal issues with transporting "troops" in a Deuce

I have noticed when hauling kids that it is very easy for a small child to fall through the space in the back of the troop seats. I would recommend that anybody hauling children cover the hole in the seat back or have very strict adult supervision.

How can I find the year of my M35?

I did some more research and with the info I found I'm not sure which one of us is right. According to David Doyle in April 1949 the design was finalized and production was in full swing by 1950. So you could be right in that there could have been some production trucks that left the factory in...

How can I find the year of my M35?

The M35 didn't come about untill the early '50s. If it is a M35 it is very likely the frame number will be on the passenger side .

air over hydraulic brakes need explanation

This is not correct. If the air system fails you will still have brakes. They just won't have any boost from the booster. The pedal will be much harder to push but you will still have brakes. When no air is available the fluid from the MC flows through the booster and to the wheel cylinders.

    Welded rocker arm

Ok, If that's what we are talking about it makes sense. I was picturing a rocker broken in half and welded back together.

    Welded rocker arm

I would tend to think that was a field repair where the truck broke a rocker arm and they didn't have a replacement but they did have a welder. I wouldn't think the guys at Tooele would have done that. Surely they would have had a good rocker to replace it with.

    M35a3 pto

It should be pretty reliable. A hyd winch is 100 times more user freindly than a PTO winch. If I could find a suitable hyd motor I would convert mine over to hyd. I'm planning on adding a dump so I'll already have a pump.

    12V M105 Trailer Lights - My Solution

It's simple. Just fix an adaptor to plug the big trailer plug to your pickup. The 24v lights will work on 12v. They won't be as bright but bright enough. I've done this and it works fine. I like your fix also but with my adaptor I can hook onto any military trailer with my pickup and have lights.

    Deuce front winch

I've got a couple of parts winches but I've already sold the gear housings. This is a pretty common item to break if you use the wrong shear pin or let the cable build up too much on one side.

    Mitigating brake failures

Yea Clinto, I knew about the links you posted. I guess what I was trying to say is these problems aren't near as common as line, wheel cylinder, master cylinder failures. I've bought several trucks from GL and all but one had some sort of problem on the "fluid" side of the system that needed...

    Is it worth it?

I didn't know what a "600 sled" was either . I've only seen one snowmoblie in my life. A buddy of mine traded for one from somebody. All I know about it was it was an old POS and didn't go very well in dirt. He kept it for a couple of years while we waited for enough snow to ride it but he...

    deuce vs excavator

I've tried that before but the problem is when you pull with the boom you're pulling too high on the machine. I tends to just push the front deeper while raising the back. It will work if you can rest the bucket on solid ground so you can lift the front while you pull. I've also chained logs...

    Gas station procedures

Accually you're doing more harm this way. The EGT and engine get hotter lugging than they will at high RPMs. You are doing just the opposite of what you're wanting to accomplish. Install a pyro and you'll see what I'm talking about.
