Has anyone tried the OD Iron kit? If so, what are some of the challenges to getting it installed? After putting out for the kit I doubt I can afford a professional installation so will need to fumble through it myself.
Mangus - Thanks, I knew about the oil pressure safety and did try jumping it but did not know about the temp safety. Oil pressure was steady at 30psi while gen was running (holding the start switch)
Speddmon - seloniod was moving position between when it was running and when it died.
319 - I...
I'm going to restart this thread in the hopes someone can help me out. Yes I read the TM and yes I held the preheater for 1 minute and the engine fired right up. The problem is as soon as I let off the start switch it dies. This happens with the throttle out, the throttle in, moving the...
Yeh that's what's been confounding me. I finally found a solution that took care of it but didn't fix it and that was to take the bulb out of the Gen1 socket.
I thought I would be able to just remove a fuse but I can't find one that takes care of that socket. The instrument panel fuse only...
The Gen 1 and Oil Pressure gauges stay lit on my 1009 when the engine is off and when the Service Drive switch is off. Both of them go out as normal when you start the vehicle but come on and stay on when everything else is off.
Any ideas?
OD Iron has a set up so you can keep the dual alternators. I haven't talked to anyone that has installed it though so I'm not sure how tough it's going to be. I'll probably order mine at the end of the month as things are warming up here in San Antonio.
Sam I know you said you didn't want to cover up the Blackout Marker but I can't see ever needing it but if I do I don't think at that point I'll need the license plate either so I can just take it off. Here's a shot of my setup. I went to a trailer sales outfit and just bought the bracket with...
Sam I really like your new Avatar. That pink one is so perty you should put a bow on it.
Since I found so much rust on mine I have to give you crap for getting the best one of the 3:-P
You can check the ball joints by jacking the front up and seeing how much play there is pushing towards the engine and pulling back on the top of the tires. If the ball joints are shot you'll also notice the vehicle drift when driving and usually a real severe pull if you brake hard.
Might be a slight bend in the steering tube. Those should be perfectly straight but they're easy to bend. It's pretty tough to bend the actual tire rods since they're cast (usually break with pressure).
Here's a pic of my steering tube. I doubt yours is that bad.
I know it's a bit outside Houston but the Audie Murphy VA hospital in San Antonio is having their annual car show on Memorial Day weekend and the Alamo MVPA is planning to be there.
The tailgate or at least the handle have been changed out as the 1009 handles are black and hard to replace so the reason that one is chrome. Look for additional rust damage under the floor mat. Crawl underneath and check the rockers and floorboard. My last one looked really good until I...
Military spare tire setup is behind the rear seat on the passenger side. Set up on front end sounds like a Forest Service modification.
A couple of weeks ago GL had about 10 Blazers go from $1000 up to around $2500. It's one of those "how long is a piece of string" questions. Lots of variables...
Typically if I don't hear anything within 3 days I get on the "Live Chat" and have them check to see if it's gone through. I actually had to do that for almost 10 business days on one last month with them telling me every time that it was there and not knowing what the hold up was. Finally a...
A virtually unused MKT-90 sold at Ft Sam a while back and unfortunately I only saw it after it sold. There were five or six at a site where I just picked up a M101 but the GL rep said they were basically stripped inside. Preview for these is a must and take pictures if you intend to buy so you...
