You're not the first one on here to have that happen ;-).
Do you have the middle spring loaded safety latch? The safety latch shouldn't let the hood fly open if you forget to secure the hood latches. If your safety latch is missing I'd suggest installing one on the new hood.
I don't know what the distance is between the fenders of the deuce but I'd think 7' 10" would be cutting it close. I'm wondering if it has a wide enough span?
It doesn't help your chances of getting it cheap by posting it on here and where it's at ;-). I haven't seen any runners for less than $1,000 in a long time and if it's a late model M35A2C it will bring more than your average deuce.
I've got three spare winches an one of them has the input worn like yours. I guess it's from the driveshaft spinning with the pin broke? I would think that with all the slack with the worn input that your shear pin would wear pretty fast and could break under load prematurely due to not having a...
A 250 Cummins doesn't have a rack to stick. The fuel pump supplies constant pressure and the injectors fire off the rocker arms. There is a governor in the pump so I guess it could stick.
Does the truck in question have a either start? I'm wondering if it could malfunction and cause a run away?
I've seen several Detroits run away. They seem to be the worst about it. If they sit for very long the fuel rack can stick and cause a run away or the seals leaking on the blower. They are so bad that they come with an emergency stop on them that drops a flap over the intake.
You are right. I didn't catch that part of his post untill I read your's and went back and re-read his. Ice in the air system would affect the brakes as a whole but not individual wheels.
You hear of the rockcrawlers breaking axles from time to time but they tend to be hard on things. I've got a friend that hauls logs on his deuce through the woods with as much as 10 tons of logs on the back (I know, he's crazy). He will break a axle from time to time. Bottom line is, If you use...
Should work but you're going to need to fab something up to keep the axles from moving sideways. Look at a road truck parked at a truck stop sometime and that will give you an Idea of what is needed..
When a turbo goes down you'll get so much smoke comming out of the exhaust you won't be able to see behind you and you'll have no power at all. Is this a multifuel or a Cummins? Sounds like a multifuel with the fuel turned up (maybe too much).
If it will make you feel better it takes about 5...
Have you thought about air ride. That would give you the height adjustment easier than torsion bars and should make for a smoother ride. I'd think it would be easier to fab up also.
I'm going to have to agree with Gimpy. Don't get me wrong, I like my deuce but if I had to own on in your situation it would get old fast. From what I've heard about HOAs (I have no firsthand knowledge because I refuse to live with one) you are going to have trouble even if you park in in the...
I've got a old military folding neck trailer (can't remember the "M" number off the top of my head). It has a box that you can plug either a 12 or 24 volt pigtail in so I'm assuming it will work for both but I haven't looked to see how it's wired up.
As for brakes, If I was going to buy or...
Ron is right. All the Cummins I've ever seen Have the heater in the cover. You should be able to get it at any place that sells big truck parts. Just tell them you want a block heater for a 855cid. Cummins.
I'd make sure the flame heater isn't working before I hit the ether switch. I don't know for sure what would happen if you used both at the same time but I bet there would be some sort explosion .
The brakes work like everyone has stated but it is wrong to call them "air over hydraulic". They are "air assisted (or boosted) hydraulic". A M105 trailer is air over hydraulic and some construction equip. is but none of the trucks are. In a air over hydraulic system if you loose air pressure...
