I've jumped 24v construction equip many times with a 12v truck. Alot of times it's just one battery that is low. Sometimes you will try it on one battery and it won't work but can switch to the other battery and it works.
I've been cleaning and painting my extensions for a install but I don't have a sandblaster. It takes a long time to clean off several layers od CARC with a wire wheel and paint striper :-x. I'm going to tear my winch down to check it out, replace seals, and paint it before I put it on.
The turbo will slow down within 30 seconds after going to idle. What you hear on the D8 is the turbo still slowing down at idle speed. The turbo will still continue to spin pretty fast even at engine idle. The only problem you'll have with turbo spinning too fast at shutdown is if you're running...
Yes I have. The problem is finding a place to put it without alot of front end modification.
The deuce already has a water cooled intake in it's stock form. I've thought about isolating the intake cooler from the engine coolant and use a heat exchanger to drop the intake temp more than engine...
I you don't have the springs connected in some way where they can move with each other it's going to limit your off road capability cosiderably. You would need a link like tandem axle trailers have between the two sets of springs at the very least. Even then it would sill not be near as good as...
I'm a CDL holder and own comerical vehicles and here's my take on DOT regs.
If the Gov. is really concerned about safety EVERYBODY would have to have a CDL, log book, and inspections of ANY truck over 26,000#. A 30,000# motorhome or fire truck is just as dangerous as a 30,000# tractor trailer...
Even with low engine coolant temps you can still have high EGT. That's what will cook your turbo. That being said, I often do the same with my road tractors and you can watch the pyro and by just taking it easy for a little bit right before shutdown will cool it off just as much as letting it...
I'd have to agree that GL prices are high from the actions I've seen lately. There was somebody on here that had good running winch trucks for sale for $3,500. That's not a bad deal when you consider that winch trucks are going in that range on GL and you don't know what you're going to end up...
The D-turbo is a matter of preferance (I like to hear the C-turbo talk myself :-D).
I've also heard that some people like the extra room the box seat offers over the spring seat. I don't have a very big belly so I like the softer ride of the springer.
All diesel engines rely on compression to ignite the fuel. Even ones with glow plugs. All the glow plugs do is warm the air upon startup then shut off. The glow pugs in no way cause the engine to "fire".
I'm thinking you could probably find some rod the proper dia. and not have to turn it down. Like I said before all I need is a pin and I can find the alloy.
If someone will send me a pin they know to be mil-spec I can find out the alloy. I've got a friend that works at the local scrap yard and they have a gun they can "shoot" a piece of metal with and it will tell you the alloy. I'll have to destroy the pin though so don't expect it back. I'll have...
I found a error in the Deuce Wiki section. In the specifications it has deuce brakes listed as "air over hyd." but they are really "air assisted (boosted) hyd. brakes". This could cause alot of confusion with people trying to stay within the law on air brakes and insurance problems.
Kenny, I forgot to mention the -10 for operation when I said the -20P was all I could find . The operation of the winch is the most important reading you can do. The winch can kill and do alot of property damage in the hands of someone that doesn't know what they are doing.
Maybe someone...
