I don't know how you would get heat shrink on there. The connectors are big. Plastidip will be hard to properly apply without possibly sealing multiple wires together. Both you would need to remove the harness to really apply those solutions and that is the hardest part or replacing/rebuilding...
I'm most of the way through my PTO winch install but ran into some snags. It's a pretty in-depth project, so I will probably make a new thread for it once I'm done. Found out a lot of good information.
Got all the need parts on order, including the M1919A4, to mount it up on the installed M66...
I have not had the issue come up again to be honest, but, I know it will. It's just one of those things I'm ignoring. The wire harness should be rebuilt. It's just a real pain in the ass job.
I actually am going to put one of the military battery tenders on there that had a small solar panel. I got one locally & it has a slightly bigger solar panel than I wanted so I am going to a different one. I want to mount the panel on top of the air intake as it's up high & it can easily be...
I brainstormed this exact idea. I had some other ideas as well with some rifle sling mounts and stuff. That cord is more robust than it seems, it will last a while & I'll make my mind up on something better when it gets close to giving up. :)
Really have not done a whole lot to my M1078... just been enjoying it!
Changed the oil & filter since it has been a year.
Been gathering some of the small things needed for the install of the big stuff I talked about above so that I'm not stuck part way through a big project needing a silly...
I stumbled on this thread via a Google search. Use the site for my other stuff but didn't realize there was radio stuff on here as well.
The thread is old I know, but, I recently got one of the newest TRI 152 radios (July 2021+) and it is MUCH different than the older ones. Much more improved...
I don't remember. Looked it up a bunch of times. It's irrelivant because it's a dead end anywways. You can't get that part anymore with exception of a few that Midwest Military Equipment has as old stock for a high price. Possible that some may pop up on eBay in the future, but, no matter what...
My best advice is to look at the wiring in the Technical Manual for the Fan Clutch Solenoid, see where it grounds out, & check that first. Then, trace that wire & see if insulation has broken making it cause some sort of back feed. It's strange, because, when the solenoid dumps air the engage...
So, I have not done much work to the truck, but been gathering parts.
M66 turret with all hardware is in hand.
Entire PTO winch setup is in hand.
I should have a full A/C install kit in hand by the end of the month.
Triple checking to be sure I have all needed parts to install everything...
This is exactly what my post & video is about.... this solenoid & I reference this video & Ronmar in the video description. He was the one who shared it with me after I tried 3 other options with failure each time. Very grateful that he found this!
It doesn't sound like it is the solenoid, it sounds like you have some sort of short or ground issue somewhere that is causing an overload that's making a breaker trip & causing a full power shut down. It could be 100's of things really. Electrical issues are a pain in the rear, they can take a...
Yes, I linked this video right in mine & gave him full credit for finding this part. Like I said, he was the one who found it after a struck out 3 times! I didn't realize he had uploaded a video until mine was building.
