    Parking brake light indicator

Are you sure you got the right switch? I'm not sure if similar parking brake levers on other trucks, such as the HMMWV, have a switch that's backwards from the M44 family of vehicles. I'm assuming it's this part here which should be the same as those USAF deuces that were built with...

    Parking brake light indicator

The parking brake light is supposed to be off when the parking brake is released. If it's on or flashing and the parking brake is released, it means there's a problem with the brake system, probably a leaky hydraulic circuit. In your case, maybe you have the wires reversed somewhere?

    M35A3 wheel beadlocks

I can't see why not. Run flats go the same place in tires as beadlocks do, so I imagine they'd press the tire bead against the rim too. I'm not speaking from experience - never messed with run flat inserts before.

    M35A3 wheel beadlocks

Unless you want your tires losing air and falling off the rim when they're run at lower pressures, yes :) I believe the way beadlock inserts work is that they keep the tire bead pressed and seated against the rim regardless of tire pressure, keeping the rest of the air in the tire from escaping...

    M35A3 wheel beadlocks

Unless you're using a CTIS, I don't think so. I want to keep beadlock inserts installed on my tires with the thought that if I have a fast leak or blowout while driving that the tire won't separate from the rim, assuming the whole tire isn't destroyed.

Using a pallet jack to install/remove super singles

Ohhhh so this is for actually mounting the whole wheel back onto the truck! Making a chain handle attached to the rim to pull the wheel back toward the hub while tightening the lug nuts. Got it now (y) I'll keep that in mind in case I have any trouble with that part! I need to get a few...

Using a pallet jack to install/remove super singles

Would this be applicable to M35A3 rims too? I'm not familiar with this method - have any pics?

    M35A3 wheel beadlocks

How much do both beadlock inserts actually weigh? I've heard 30-40 lbs.

    M35A3 wheel beadlocks

I meant the rims. I'd hate to have metal beadlock inserts - just another corrosion headache! 🤮

    M35A3 wheel beadlocks

I didn't realize the 5-ton super single rims were narrower than the A3 rims. But they're a wider diameter? EDIT: Nevermind, I see the 5-ton bead locks are the same diameter as the A3. Just curious if they're lighter or they just use thicker steel.

    M35A3 wheel beadlocks

It sounds like the stock bead locks should work with the 395s then. Phew! @Sgt Jiggins is there a reason to believe why your A3 14.5 tires might not have them already and pull them out?

    M35A3 wheel beadlocks

I was under the impression the ones that came with the stock 14.5R20 tires would work with the 395s, but that's not the case? I found your beadlock insert removal thread from a couple months ago and @tobyS mentioned something about different sized beadlocks. 10 or 11 inches wide? I...

Using a pallet jack to install/remove super singles

I found out that the forks on my pallet jack aren't wide enough apart to fit under one of these tires, and I didn't want to jack the truck higher, so I did it @simp5782 's way. Actually, I had it up high enough such that I didn't even have to use a pry bar! The front passenger tire was flat...

M35A3 brake issue Air hisses out master cylinder front when braking

I'm glad you found the air leak! Best of luck getting your truck back on the road soon (y)

    M929/M930 Dump Box Floor Area?

Thank you for the measurements and comparisons! Without side boards, the 5-ton dump has about half the box volume of a typical commercial dump truck. But I don't think commercial dump trucks were meant to drive through the same things the 5-ton dumps were designed to.

M35A3 brake issue Air hisses out master cylinder front when braking

I encourage you to look through this PDF as the split brake system on the M35A3 is very similar to those fitted to USAF M35A2s, just with some revised brake system component placement. For maintenance info on the brake system of the M35A3 specifically, consult TM9-2320-386-24-1-1, WP 0154.

M35A3 brake issue Air hisses out master cylinder front when braking

I looked in the TMs regarding the master cylinder. It seems that there are no air lines going to it, only hydraulic lines. I'm thinking the air is coming from somewhere else. Can you please post a picture of where you think the air is escaping? Maybe there is air in the hydraulic side of the...

M35A3 brake issue Air hisses out master cylinder front when braking

If you lose air, you still have brakes, but it's much harder to stop as you might imagine. I'd get the issue fixed so you don't find yourself surprised if you don't test the brakes before actually braking for a stop. If it were me I wouldn't drive it until it's fixed. I don't think that would...

1953 Gasser dash panel question-What did they look like?

I'm pretty sure gasser army trucks built in the 50s or later shared the same gauge cluster. My dad's M37, M38, and M38A1 have matching clusters, and it looks like gasser M45s and M39s did too.

    Xml vs. Xzl

I'm going with XML tires for the price I'm able to get them from Eastern Surplus. I think for the speed I typically drive my deuce (45 mph max) that road performance won't be a huge issue. Can't be worse than driving on NDTs in the rain!
