    1941 K18-C GMC Recovered today

I bet the garage smells awesome from the smell of that oak. I love the smell of fresh cut wood. Your progress on the truck is amazing. The $1000 was a starting bid. (10x what the previous bidder bid):papabear:

My replacement XM820e2 recovery and modification thread

Been thinking about the electric hydraulic pump that runs the liftgate when the truck engine is off. It is set up to run on 3 phase power when a generator is attached to the truck for power. Since i do not have a 3 phase generator to do that i though about converting the pump to single phase...

Liftgate Hydraulic Pump Mod Help on M820A2 Needed

I am thinking of replacing the 3 phase hydraulic pump that runs my liftgate on the M820A2 with the engine off. This is a the backup pump used when the truck is plugged into a 3 phase generator for power. It allows the operator to operate the liftgate without having to run the engine and PTO...

Was a nice guy on the phone but sent my friend junk tires 395/85R20's. Had some nasty damage and one even had a large nail still embedded in it. This is not hearsay. I actually took pictures of the tires and sent it to him as proof. I think he is a friend of the ADMIN here -so I am sure I...

    Hatz diesel

I had one of those engines in my MC-2A air compressor. There was a large 12" fan that blew cool air to keep the components inside the unit cool. It also had an oil cooler.

    Lowering Pintle Hitch

I would think you can pull more than that if the truck is empty and the trailer has it's own brakes. Just think how much weight a M931 tractor can haul. Same drive train and frame.

    1941 K18-C GMC Recovered today

These windows remind me of the windows in the M35 and other trucks. Is it possible to use the glass frame from a M35 door to fabricate new window frames for this truck?

goldneagle's M923 recovery and modification thread

Thanks Doug. Now all I need to do is paint over the lug nuts and valve stems. I guess the spare tire will go in the back of the cargo area. It's 15" wide and will not fit where the current spare is secured. They must install the cargo box further back on the A1 and A2 models.

Thanks PB! Maybe one year you can make it down again to the Louisiana Rally. Then you can check out the fleet. I promise to have sammmiches and moonshine cake available.

goldneagle's M923 recovery and modification thread

As I was cutting up the plywood from the crates that held the new rims for my M923 my tire guy showed up to finish the installation. He started by removing the Goodyear 11.0.-20 G177 tires on 5 ton rims from the rear right side of the truck. Once secured he replaced the front tire with the new...

goldneagle's M923 recovery and modification thread

Today we started to mount the new tires on the new rims. the valve stems required are 13/16" hole size. I got some Heltec stems for my rims. A lot cheaper that they are asking for the military ones. We found 3 o-rings that were damaged beyond use. They were packed in a plastic bag with the...

    goldneagle's 1985 M1008 recovery and restoration thread...

Update: Went out this morning and installed the last run-flat into the HMMWV tires. (got a little help from my tire guy who arrived as I was wrestling with the run-flat) We mounted all 5 HMMWV tires with the run-flats on the rims. I found an easy way to align the valve stem to the notch in...

    goldneagle's 1985 M1008 recovery and restoration thread...

In my opinion they did. When we installed them in it took 2 people to get them in. Sitting in the LA sun for a few days allowed the beads and sidewalls to expand out. It allowed me to get the run-flats in easier. (when I removed the blacks the side walls only moved a little and there was a...
