Boy you sure hit that price on the head ! If this was a "Price is right" showcase you would have won both showcases!

I don't know. It should be on the door plate. I'll take a look tomorrow.

As some of you remember I was in the process of buying a new Chevy truck. It took six months to get it as everything I wanted on it did not exist on any truck in America. So now I've had the truck for over four weeks and I do love it, but today I was out driving the old 1984 CUCV 1ton dually and...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Yes, it is always better to have a friend around to lend a helping hand.

Anyone ever seen the IP extension housing split in half [emoji21]

Yeah. Those bushings for the advance weights are pretty small, but serve a vital function.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

It's a good feeling to do a job well isn't it ! That is a job well done there "Mrmag1" .

    M135 M211 2 speed transfer case mod

Exactly. That key holds that gear to the shaft. I know the gears are spinning freely on the shaft in general and when the shifter moves it "dogs" them into each other. I still think we are looking at this from different angles. OK, try and imagine that gear on the output end without the "key" ...

20k Garwood winch install on a Deuce

You can add a front axle "truss" . I've seen this done several times. I'm thinking of doing one this summer. Of course this "truss" will do nothing for the extra load on the wheel bearings.

Anyone ever seen the IP extension housing split in half [emoji21]

I've seen it happen to three units I bought. The advance unit can "throw" it's weights (made of steel) which break off at the "pins" and then get jammed in the housing. Of course the input shaft is still turning which then causes the housing to give since it is only made out of aluminum.

    M35a2 White Smoke

It's hard for me to hear anymore. My left ear is almost totally deaf and the right one is trying to catch up ! I just heard a small pop-pop sound. Cannot tell where it is coming from though. I still say just put some additives in and run it extremely hard up some good hills. If that doesn't...

    M135 M211 2 speed transfer case mod

If that key is only "supporting" that gear then remove it and put shims in it's place. The fact is that key is there to make a mechanical connection to that shaft. That is the only reason woodruff keys are used. To make a mechanical connection. As far as your suggestions "Ashley P" about the...

    M35a2 White Smoke

But that doesn't account for the "popping" sound out the exhaust. Something is not right there. I'm sure it is something simple but it needs to be checked out.

    M135 M211 2 speed transfer case mod

You would think so, but the reality is they really didn't understand gears like we do now. That is 1950's knowledge they where using. In the last eighty years we have learned a thing or two. We now know the damage caused by any failure of the drivetrain including keys giving way causes way to...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

That's just a mild "shower" up here. Anyone of us from the Pacific Northwest would be out there working away. If it really starts to come down (think cow pissing on a flat rock) you just put up a tarp over the hood and keep working. To keep yourself motivated just think how nice it will be once...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I always get a surge of adrenaline when I find a score like that ! It has only happened about four times now, but each time was a special moment ! Feels like I found hidden treasure ! The last time was at this "Hippy Bookstore" in downtown Seattle. They had all their military stuff stashed in...

    XM 410 steering box

Did you ever find the rebuild information for your steering gear ? I have the original Ross Service manual and it lists the HP-70 series gear.

    Ld-465 max rpm 1800

Glad it was just the filters and nothing more. Hopefully nothing bad got through to the injection pump. That can really mess up your day !

    M35a2 White Smoke

I agree with all the posts that mentioned using additives, but if that doesn't work then check the injectors like I said. Really cleaning your injectors is like changing your spark-plugs in a gasoline engine. It should be done on a regular basis. At the transit agency it was done every 50,000...

    M35a2 White Smoke

I was wondering about that statement too. Unless you have larger tires installed, going 70 mph at 2500 rpm is not physically possible with the gearing the deuce has. Do you have larger tires on your deuce ?
