No longer. You will need to find a good used injection pump. Also those pieces are mated together. They cannot be interchanged from other pumps. I'm referring to the shaft and housing pieces. Almost all parts are interchangeable just not the "Hydraulic Head" and "fuel shaft assembly" parts. Both...
Yep, you probably have an injector sticking. So take them out and Pop-Test them all. Also when you do your next run with the truck try and load it down. Go up a good hill and really make the engine grunt. Or put some serious weight in the back and run it. This engine was made to be operated at...
Reinstall it and hope it doesn't leak. Keep an eye on it though. After running it hard bring it home and remove cover. With the engine running see if anything is coming out that shaft. If it is then that fuel is going straight into the oil pan so I needs to be fixed.
OK, you "NEVER" want to sand or polish this shaft. It is a machined ground fit from the factory. If it gets too loose the fuel will come out this shaft. There is no 'O' ring or anything but the extreme tight tolerances to keep the fuel in. You can disassembly the unit and "clean" it with some...
Thanks "Mrmag1" .
I wished I had bought a couple of M1101 trailers when I had the chance. Now they have increased so much in value I might never get one.
I don't think it could be the injectors or valve adjustment since it is an intermittent problem. Those kind of issues you mentioned Gimp are usually always constant. This definitely sounds like a fuel issue. I'm wondering about the fuel pump now.
"jth3rd" have you checked the fuel pump pressure...
Exactly ! Used motor oil has a tremendous amount of metal particles in it. You need a centrifuge to totally remove them all, but a really good filtration system can really help. Remember the fuel should be cleaned down to at least 6 microns. The old American Bosch service manual said to filter...
Totally agree with Gimp here. These newer style gear reductions starters are the only way to go. Cheaper and lighter and more power to spin the engine over. I have two stored in sealed 5 gallon buckets just in case !
Here's what I have done to my M105 trailer so far. Mounted two tires underneath. Mounted fuel can and fire extinguisher in front. Now mounted my S250 shelter in back with room in front for a 100 gallon fuel tank and my MEP-531 generator. Along the sides I have mounted a shepherds jack and on the...
Sounds like the starter solenoid is melted closed. This is the one mounted on the starter itself, not the one on the engine block. Take out the starter and remove the old solenoid. You can remove the solenoid on the starter without removing the whole starter but you really need to check the...
There are several models of "civilian" ONAN generator engines that will have parts interchange with our MEPS. Call your local supplier of ONAN parts. Of course you can always put a "want add" here for a good used engine for parts.
Forgot to mention. Glad you found the culprit !
