. I hate to say it, but your batteries (or maybe just one) sound like they are dead. You could remove the batteries and take them to an Auto Zone or NAPA and have them load test the batteries. You should replace them in pairs. Otherwise one will be a drain on the other...

. Well, I have been watching the goings on in this thread. I have seen lots of trips logged on this site with this truck - and I never would have figured a clogged sock would have been the problem. LOTS of miles have passed under this vehicle... Congratulations on finding the fix!

. Compression looks good enough. What about the plugs? Have you checked the "gap" on them? #1 looks (might be just the pic) like it has been dropped on the electrode. They all look a little "worse for the wear" in my opinion.

. Depending on how long since it was sprayed, acetone might work. Lightly sanding with a fine grit paper will pull off the overpaint. It won't be perfect but you could read it for sure.
