    Civilian wheel cylinders

I know that the shop that rebuilds the Deuce air-pacs has ready made sleeves. The shop that I was going to use just freezes a tube of stainless into the heated unit. Then they bore it to specs.

    Civilian wheel cylinders

That is a great way to go if you have the money up front to get the job done. I've considered going that way several times lately. The shop I was going to use "cold sleeves" the liners. The fit is so tight this way there is usually never any problems with weeping of any kind.

    deuce parts

Very good list. Eriks is also my first "go to" parts place. You didn't mention "White Owl" though. They have the best availability of "Rare" parts I've ever seen. In fact they are the only ones that still have all the NOS parts for our steering gears. They also are the only ones carrying the...

    Front wiring harness swap blues

That is soo true !!!! rofl There is always a learning curve in understanding how a new clip works. I have broken so many in my life it is funny ! After breaking the first three or four you start figuring out the "tricks" in how to undo them. Of course it seems the manufactures come out with a...

    Front wiring harness swap blues

Oh I understand your opinion very well as it was mine too. For the last 50 years I never bought a "new" vehicle. Always good used. The fact that you loose 30% of the vehicles value just driving it off the car lot makes me extremely angry ! Actually I did buy a Loaner truck (Scout) from IHC back...

    Front wiring harness swap blues

Yes there is some really crappy vehicles out there, but the modern car or truck can do things that the good old vehicles could only dream of doing. Like go 100,000 miles on a set of spark plugs ! Or even go a 100,000 miles without a major rebuild ! I learned to change and set points and...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Actually thermostats can and will fail in any position including half-way open. There is no such thing as a "fail safe" thermostat. There is some manufacturers "claiming" their thermostats will only fail in the open position, but the facts disprove them. If you think about it, most all failures...

    DOT 5 & Seals

I've been a big proponent of DOT 5 (Silicone) brake fluid for decades now. I've used it in almost all my vehicles, unless it has had anti-lock brakes installed on it. One of the biggest mistakes I've seen people do is failure to "totally" clean the brake system ! Also "ALL" rubber seals must be...

1968 Deuce, new owner - new member

That hole was used to add a electrical connector for many devices used in the deuce. I've seen radio set-ups that used that connector and also "Radiation" detection devices . My older deuce had such a connection. It had a Radiation Decontamination Unit on the back bed. I'm sure there where many...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

No kidding ! The heat up here has been a killer too ! We got back from our 3 week trip to Europe Monday, but it has been so hot I cannot do anything outside !!! After just a few hours outside I'm getting sick and have to come inside.

    PNW Info Thread!

Ah, Fort Borst. My brothers used to dig out "arrow heads" from that old fort. That was back in the early fifties. I don't believe anymore are left now. I really need to get back down there. I was born in Chehalis and still have family down there. Most live around Napavine now.

It took two gallons of primer and two gallons of "Monster liner" . It really needed more Monster Liner but I was able to get a complete coat barely.

    Deuce bed Project

I've been working on it for awhile now. I need to attach it to the bed of the trailer, then I can start making up shelves for my tool storage. I already bought the material to attach it. It's just a matter of having the time and energy to get it completed !

    Deuce bed Project

Well I finally got started on cleaning and painting the Deuces bed. After cleaning and then sanding then wiping down the bed and sides I was able to paint it with my two part epoxy primer I bought a while ago. Then after a few days I painted it with colored "Monster Liner". Of course I chose...

    Lubricating Oil vs. Motor Oil

You will get even cooler running transmission with a synthetic oil. Shell makes a transmission specific 50W synthetic oil. Almost all major truck transmission manufactures recommend this oil.
