If you are getting 24 volts to the excite wire at the alternator, sounds like the alternator is not working.

When you say “air cooled” visions of a Briggs and Stratton engine pops into people’s head. The Onan engines are bulletproof. The market has moved to water cooled engines mainly due to them being quieter.

That track could be good or not good. You have to look for what is called “dead shoes”, which means the rubber bushings inside the pins is shot and the two adjacent shoes pivot freely. If there are multiple dead shoes, the remaining bushings are not far behind.

That is the T130E1 track for the M113 or M548. How many shoes do you have?

Open front glad hand covers and see if that resolves issue.

I would start by verifying that 24 volts is present at the injection pump with the ignition on. Listen for clicking of the solenoid inside.

Easier to just put a bunch of diodes in series to cut the 24 to 14. But to answer your question use the hot wire going to the brake light switch.

If your hoses are OEM from 1966 etc they could be swollen inside causing restricted flow.
