My advice to you is get rid of that piggyback 12/24 converter and get a remote mounted newer version. The OEM unit catches fire. Had happened to lots of us. The alternator itself is fine.
I looked into fabrication of the turret support. My plate roll guy says rolling flat bar aluminum into the ring will cause the bar to crack. So that leaves waterjetting the ring out of thick plate and machining the remaining features. This option is very expensive. So I continue my search...

Yes. Happens because of the straight cut gears in the hubs. The Alpha had bevel cut gears which fixed it. Super noticeable on the show “Renegade” where they drove the H1 like a sports car.
