Just remember if you get another engine the most important thing you can do. Don't use your water pump buy a new one and a new t stat.
Change it at a Buddy's house or rent a Large storeage that has out side entry.
Swapping it is just a lot of hard nasty work but very doable. You should be able to rent a motor lift.
Someone has bound to have a engine on here it's just a matter of how close they are to you.
See if you can pull the oil pan and see if anything looks broke. if it still runs start it and and...
I would not go to the cab. Really needs to be installed to frame.
If you went to cab you would have to place some large plates on back of cab so you don't have them pull right through the cab in a accident.

This is just a thought take the side's off a drop side bed and make ramps .
Then slide them in bed or find somewhere to mount them.
The question is how heavy are they. I have not even folded mine down yet .
If they are as heavy as tailgate might not be a good choice.
I have 10 w in my 1984 M923
Andy who lives near me has 15/40 in his 1984 M923
Allison if I read it right says dex is for hwy use
10 w is for off road use and heavy load use.
So in my opinion if 10w is for extreme heavy use it should be good for hwy use.
