Another thing to do is get yourself a hand held thermometer. Drive it for an hour, get out and walk around the truck zapping each hub. If you see one that is really hot, start looking for a way to drive off the road and start fixing it. Chances are your hubs will be just fine...

I wouldn't worry about the grease that held the push rod in place for your fuel pump.
Soon as you start the truck, that grease will get washed out and eventually dissolve.

And honestly, if you removed every connection, scrubbed it with a fine wire brush, coated it lightly with Anti-Ox paste, then plugged it back in -- it would take you a week. Maybe less depending on how motivated you are.

My best guess is that the wire that runs down through the column has rubbed itself bare somewhere along the way. Attach a new piece of 14ga to the old wire and pull it out through the bottom of the column, then thread it to where it touches the wiring harness.

Well... Two batteries should be more than enough to turn the truck over. Not especially going to start it, but it should at least "grunt" or try to turn over.
