ODdave,
The 6.2/6.5's injector pump's are hardened to combat wear due to use of JP8. As I'm sure you know, JP8 is a very "dry" fuel that provides very little lubricity to the fuel system components. I've been to manufacture training on alot of the new equipment the USMC has and they mostly...
We have an old tug out at the base that runs an old Chrysler Slant 6. Tops out around 15 MPH. maybe. It it an open top made in 72 and we use it pulling "Tour" type trailers for hauling upper level civilians on tours around our facilities.
I will just say that from what I've seen, this group tends to dislike the FMTV, yet when one get's sold to the public, there's interest in owning one. Sure, there are some things about the Deuce to love like being able to complete the mission after a breakdown with some bailing wire and duct...
All so far is correct. The MK-48 is an awesome truck but is slated to be replaced by the MKR LVSR series which is basically an Army PLS with some upgrades. The turning radius of an LVSR is about twice of what the MK 48 could turn in. Nonetheless, the LVSR is a pretty nice truck with alot of...
Pretty sure you'll have to get you're wife the do the bidding. The government is a little silly concerning these matters. For instance, a non-resident can serve in our countries armed forces and still not have citizenship.... even though they deploy alongside their brother's and sister's and...
Well, from experience, anything left on an island tends to stay on that Island. I saw a M923 With Winch in Hawaii go for under $3000 today and it was a good looking truck. I also visited Ft. Stewart this past week and they had 10 M35A3's still in their MATES lot, pristine condition code "A"...
We had one at work do the same thing. It was a Marine Corps M998 with the fording kit and it would suck enough diesel to soak air filter in about 2 days time. The truck ran fine during all of this and we never did determine the cause. We checked all of the vent lines, (they were fine) as well...
NDT,
To answer you're question, it was a stock truck. I don't know all the specs but it was a 2007 model 1152A1 with soft top, doors, up armored skid plates underneath the the mentioned maint. box on the back full of tools. I'm not sure about the weight but you could definitely feel the box...
Just finished up a mission with the National Guard. I had to go 190 miles one way to pick up an M1102 Trailer from Ft. Stewart and got to break in a new HMMWV along the way. The 1152's have an 80 MPH. Speedo in them and they can do every bit of that and more. My truck was a maintenance...
Marine Corps Frag 5 Armor trucks all have the 24 bolt rims as well as the Geared Fan Drive. We get them in all the time. I haven't seen Frag 6 yet. I'm sure they're on the way.
Quick question, Did you find much trouble turning the nut? I've gone about 4 flats on mine but it's so hard to turn, I'm scared to mess with it. Maybe mine's just got corrosion on it and I may need to spray some lube but it's binding pretty tight to say the least.

Most of the Deuce's came without a winch, mine included, so I say for once let us without a winch triumph. Great shirt, let me know when they're ready and I'll buy one.
And just to be sure, I haven't revealed my background as to why I love these trucks. I drove them with the National Guard for years until the FMTV's started coming in. We quit driving the Deuce's and I missed that. I ran the stew out of them and they rarely ever broke. If one did, the Guard...
Not that I'm a big fan of flippers, they have their place in this hobby most certainly. I dislike them for the fact that they tend to run the auction up at the last minute and make people who would like the trucks for personal use pay more. That rant aside, they do provide a valuable service...
Looks pretty good to me. I'd buy one to wear when I drive my truck to work. I work on a Military Installation so it's either hit or miss oddly enough with my co-workers. Some think, "man, that's awesome" and some say "you mess with that kind of stuff all day, why do you need one for yourself"?
Mine's a little rough in 15 to 20 degree weather. Anything above freezing and she's good. In the 15 to 20 degree weather, I just give enough throttle to keep it right above 1,000 rpm's and she's good after about 20 seconds. I've got the flame intake heater and have not used it for worry of...
For what it's worth, mine is registered on MCLB Albany now with a DOD decal and all. Drove on the base with no problem before it was registered but you never know when you'll meet super cop and get turned away trying to go to work. The registration process went smooth until the Pass and ID...
In regards to Hawaii or Guam auctions, I just must say ya'll are lucky for where you live. The cost of having any of this equipment shipped is prohibitive so it goes for cheap on the islands for the most part. Heck, I've seen M920's go for less than a thousand in pretty good shape as well as...
An A3 off the bat!!!! Good to go!!! I got an A2 while they were cheap in October of last year and have loved it ever since. Congrats on the A3's coming with heater's on your trip to Washington as I'm sure it's freezing up there at the moment. My A2 does not have a heater but I've got one in...
