I read your extremely small lettered papers and totally agree with them. Yes fuels are mixed with Bio-Diesel. Yes old hoses manufactured before 1993 are susceptible to Bio-Diesel. What does that have to do with "Nitrile Type C" hose ? Did you notice the "Type C" written after Nitrile on the...
Boy your not kidding ! On semi-trucks I've seen owner-operators try and get by on the "Cheap" with smaller batteries. You can start them, but if for any reason the engine doesn't fire on the first crank your in trouble. Now with some 8D's in there the starter usually spins so fast the engine...
Your right. I'm just as guilty by shopping on line. Your also right that the future is "online" shopping. My wife now buys our food from "Amazon" . We too live far from town, and it's cheaper (no gas used) and less hassle to buy online.
We still make a monthly visit to "Costco" and fill up on...
Hey I used wire for years. If the bolt heads had the holes, they got wire. The new stuff from the factory does not have wire anymore. Well on a few things they still use wire, but it is very rare to see them anymore. The fact is good old Loctite will hold just fine. The red Loctite will come off...
Did you file the old contacts so that they meet perfectly flat ? If they don't they will not hold current and will come loose. Then the whole process is repeated. Thus the "clicking" noise.
Also you didn't use any kind of grease on the contacts did you ? That is a real NO NO !
OK this will be my last post on this matter (but I'm sure I will be dragged back in) . I received a call back from "Olympic Controls" . These are the people who make the original fuel pump for the deuce. They said they get their hoses from "Motion Industries" and the part number is : ready for...
I don't remember when "Loctite" was officially sanctioned to use on brake and axle systems, but I believe it was around the mid 1980's . So I wasn't saying the only trucks that can use Loctite was from the 1950's but I'm sure you knew that already  .
OK, after talking with the Gates representative, the Tech guy from "Olympic" pumps and several others today I found out what is going on. There was a "revision" to the SAE J30R10 standard due to the change in "gasoline" . So the "Gates" hose series "4219-0102" which many of us here have used for...
Remember these trucks where designed in the 1950's. Back then they didn't have a safe way to secure all the bolts without wiring them. Now we have "Loctite" !!! So if you want, just use a good grade of Loctite (red) and don't worry about the wires.
Now if you do wire it, make sure the back loop...
I own several deuces, but someday I plan to make one into a "bobber" just to play in the woods ! It's pretty hard to avoid all the trees around here with a full size deuce. So don't worry about the "naysayers" . It's your truck, enjoy it !
Yes GM did that for a "short" while. Then they realized the error of their ways. To get the 700R4 (4L60E) to handle the same amount of power and torque as the TH400 you need lots of money ! I've rebuilt these for several clients over the years to handle the same amount of power the TH400 can...
The fact is, the scans in your last post don't list a 30R10-rated 1/2" ID product, which is what the hurdle has been throughout this entire volley of posts.
I just have to point this out as you didn't read the spec sheet. Read the highlighted parts.
Note the part where it says "exceeds...
First off, sorry you didn't read the TM on engine repair or you would know this. Second, having worked on European "Junk" engines I can honestly say this design is not bad. You don't need extra balancing on the crank to "offset" the added weight of dowels and pins to align the flywheel. I know...
If you had actually looked at the specifications of this hose instead of listening to the "advice" of the "NAPA" parts guy you would realize it is fine for "Diesel" fuel. For those who don't know, "Menaces Nemesis" doesn't like me. All those Nasty little PM's. I didn't take it to the forums...
Yep that is true. With the tire market so competitive today, when you see a tire going for much more then the others that usually means they added something above normal to it. Like extra ply's.
"Gates" makes 1/2" immersion rated fuel hose. There are several suppliers out there. I always recommend you "replace" the fuel hose after removing and installing the fuel tank pump.
I could not get the adapter to seal on the injector line. I tightened it down till it finally broke. So I went with some "Parker" ferrules and fittings. That has seemed to work so far. Still not the best though. I might just have to have some lines made up. Don't like getting diesel fuel...
