    XM-778 2 1/2 ton Cargo Truck, W/W

So this truck uses 5 ton axles ? It's not a Deuce ?

Roadside assistance that covers a deuce?

Yes life is short, and yes I carry tools. I probably carry more tools then anyone on this site. That's not bragging it's because I'm terribly paranoid and a heavy truck mechanic so I do know what can go wrong. (My last trip I carried an "Oxy-Acetylene set" just in case). I've also been in a...

    New brake shoes dragging

Do all 4 cams move properly ? I also agree about Winlock being a bit of a drive for us "Northern" brethren. It takes over an hour to just get past Seattle traffic ! My annual family reunion is held down in Winlock so I know the drive well.

    Sea foam in fuel system

Yeah that sludge was "extreme" !!! It would have taken more then a few quarts of ATF to clean that mess up !

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Don't worry. I tore out my whole electrical system and installed a standard 12 volt harness. Of course I also removed the 6.2 diesel and replaced it with a 383 Hi-Torque gas motor. Best mod I ever did for the truck ! So much more power ! Of course it really isn't a CUCV anymore.

    AcuTemp Refrigerator

Also I had mine running for several weeks now. So the system has had a chance to get all the little "kinks" out. I know from experience with our bus AC systems that if it has not been running for at least 10 hours it will give false readings. So before any buses AC system is serviced it must be...

A northern neighbor then. I'm down in Woodinville. There are a few of us in this area. We need to get together this summer.

    Very true.

    AcuTemp Refrigerator

Well one thing I do know. This unit was basically brand new. I have the "test" results on disc and it was barely used. Also I did the tests on 120 volt AC. Did you ? I'm sure the results would be a little different if using 12V or 24 V DC.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

My bad. I did assume he was talking about a M35A2 or earlier. The light information is still valid though.

    XM-778 2 1/2 ton Cargo Truck, W/W

Did anyone ever find the TM manuals for this truck ? It would be really interesting to look-up the part numbers of things like that brake system for one.

    AcuTemp Refrigerator

When my test was done the temperature was at -18C . By that time all the water bottles where frozen solid. That was at 5 hours. By six hours the temperature was at -23C .

Hey "Montaillou" . What part of Western Washington are you in ?

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Your lucky someone put in a reverse switch for you. They don't come with them from the military. Since you have a "bobber" I'm sure there are many mods already performed on your truck. Also those lights have high/low bulbs in them. The two connectors in the back of the lamp are positive inputs...

    Sea foam in fuel system

I still remember that batch of fuel I got in "Ellensburg WA." . I made it five miles out of town before my engine started acting like a raped Ape ! I nursed it along for miles going barely above 20 MPH before I could hit another fuel station and put in some decent fuel. It still acted bad but...
