I just picked up a 003 with 8 hours on the clock. This thing appears to have been mothballed after testing since the convenience outlets were taped over, fuel tank and filters were bone dry and clean besides some rust from condensation. Once I soaked the pump in acetone and changed all of the...
If you go to the top of the generator forum , on the right top you will see a button that says "post thread". This is where you start a new thread.
If you go to the top of this thread you will see in small type about the thread title the list of the forums where this is located. Just click on...
The trailer nomenclature will be on the tag on the trailer tongue. It would be a 116, 105 or 101 most likely and I believe the only one of those that had jack was the 105 which is a deuce and a half trailer with 6 lug, 20" wheels. Does this jack have a heavy duty double steel wheel on the bottom...
And as far as asking more questions, as long as they are all related to the original post then just go to the bottom of thread under the last reply and you will see a box for a reply. If you click on the reply button in someones post then you are quoting them as an answer to their post.
The pumps will not stop because the IP is bypassing some fuel back to the tank. So it never builds up enough pressure to stop. If it does stop you have a blockage somewhere. Take the fuel cap off when you turn that switch on and you will hear fuel trickling back into the tank.
Sounds like someone was already working on it and gave up. I plan to eliminate all of those military filters and put a more modern filter/water separator on mine.
I don't know the codes but I do know that replacing the batteries twice in a few months and then sending out for disposal would tell me it probably has a charging problem. DC voltage regulator issue? I am sure you will be hearing from Guyfang since this was his wheelhouse.
Sometimes those breakers just get weak and will trip under very little load. If the pump tests do not show anything you might want to look into replacing the breaker. And the float switch is for the float in the fuel tank that triggers the Aux pump to refill the day tank when running from a 55...
Injectors and glow plugs if still there. Fuel pumps but looks like this is nothing more than the basic engine and none of the main genset. I certainly would not pay to ship a stripped engine across the country! You could buy a genset complete for less.
WOW! I just saw those prices!! I paid 300 and 350 for my gensets. If I had to spend that much I would scrap them out for parts and buy a decent civilian commercial unit.
I know there are a couple guys here that rebuild those pumps but if Ambac has stopped support where are they going to get parts? I know timing buttons were always an issue but there are other parts that break that if not supported by replacement parts then there might be a problem.
I have seen all of the above as separate units but never together with the exception of welder/generators since the generator function supports the job. I think the main reason for separate units is the military is just like the unions. In the union each person has one job and one job only. In...
