I just looked all through the interweb and I only found a pack of ten Champion CH42's in Europe. None at all here in the states. Are you sure you got the right ones? As Ray said the CH42 are correct but the CH41 are 12 volt.
My current solution to starting on really cold days is to just use a propane torch and direct the heat from the torch not into but in front of the air cleaner so the heat is drawn in while cranking. This has always worked well for me. Tedious yes, more cranking than usual yes, but it works. It...
Well, I looked up the Wellman's on Epay and snagged two of them. I could not get a definite answer on the Champions being a direct match so I jumped on these. Said there were ten left and 6 people put them in their wishlists. If I have learned one thing over the last few years it is to grab it...
I just did a whole bunch of searching and came up empty other than to find out those Champions are discontinued. If the only difference was the thread then I would re-tap the head. But if they are also going to disappear there is no sense in doing that.
Guy, I am also interested in this thread since I need at least two and maybe 4 of these glow plugs. But I don't understand your post? Is it a far sale post or just a general info post in case you find them? And what about the Champion 182 CH 42? Are they viable or not?
I am working on a 1953 M37 that has been modified by the fire service and again by some bubba mechanics. I doubt I am going to try to fully return it to full military form but I do want to get it it good running order. Right now brakes are on the platter. This has had a hydrovac system added to...
Thanks Blake, I knew the sizes but Rock Auto could not tell me the sizes on the cylinders they have in stock since the published numbers are not what they should be. I have had this issue several time with Rock Auto. They say they have something and they list is as such but they send something...
When was this? I called today and those numbers are unavailable. Seems since Raybestos sold out nobody but Rock auto has any old stock. When I checked Rock Auto they could not tell me the actual bore sizes on the cylinders and their listings show several different for the same parts. Rockauto...
I saw the ones at VPW after I posted this. I also saw they have them for 1/4" oversized drums which mine are. I need to check the drums I took off of my other 37 when I put the disc brakes on since I think they were in much better shape. I am going to pull the wheel cylinders tomorrow and see if...
I am sure this exists here somewhere but I have not been able to find it. I have found that the M37 I bought that was ready to go is far from it and it needs a lot of parts. I want to see what is available from the civilian side after seeing the price for one, yes ONE, brake shoe!! If I have to...
Just remember that modern diesel does not last forever like the old stuff used to. So be sure to get some stabilizer for it. The govt. has even managed to screw up diesel fuel.
""I love the whisky idea actually, great to barter with.""
Exactly what I was thinking, liquid money after the shtf...
Nice! But kind of overkill for storing diesel fuel don't you think?
You will never have to worry about rust and I cannot honestly think of what I would put in there for survival stuff, Whisky? LOL.
If you got them for a good price I can understand it but you can get steel oil drums for 20-25...
Dang! I went right past Norfolk on Thursday with that M37 on the trailer!!! Could have stopped in. But I am guessing those 11.00's are far from cheap!!
Thanks for all of the size verifications, that kind of helps me zoom in a little. I want to stay in the same ballpark. I do not want to go...
Those air vents should be opening up at least a little bit even at those temps. Fully closed it will overheat even on cold days. Have you taken the shrouds off and lubricated all of the moving joints? Made sure they were free?
Normally a wide tire on a skinny rim will be an issue due to the bead seating surface being pulled out and not sitting flat on the rim. But the fact that these tires will have tubes makes that a moot point. Very high pressure is still an issue but there is no need to run 60 lbs. of air on this...
A 315/75 calls for a 8-11 inch rim, a two inch difference is substantial. I am not saying it is out of the question, just want to know if others are using this size. Pricing is attractive for this size and selection is good. That will offset the 45.00 each price of the tubes!
