    Tranny, starter, or something else?

Is the starter still in the proper position being held on by one bolt? Next time a starter bolt breaks that makes your truck NMC. (not mission capable)

    T-138, T-77 come to mind.

    Newbie Needs Advice on HMMWV

Remember the VIN is only stamped on the main data plate. It is always possible that that plate might get lost requiring you to title it as a 1985. That happened on my 2002.

I think defina I think definitely rebuilt. I think it got that engine and a new speedometer in 2012 along with the super nice paint job it has. Then USMC drove it for 200 miles and parked it. Then some dumbazz mechanic needed a fording intake years ago and took yours, leaving the intake...

The A/C compressor goes where the hoses are, they are attached with bolts. The compressor is available. It appears the expensive start box is missing. Your NSN ending in 2007 is correct, it is painted on the hood, and that is the NSN for a 1152A1. The serial number is correct for your year...

On the naturally aspirated engines, the missing rain cap at the Georgia site meant wet engine. BUT this is a turbo and so few of these have been sold, that MAYBE water did not get into the engine because the turbo and the intake manifold are so high up.

No, the water has entered the combustion chambers and will sit there before it eventually oozes into the crankcase, but what happens is the steel rings get corroded in place on the aluminum pistons.

ECV is the hot ticket now. Everything besides the inside of your engine looks great. And I may be wrong about the engine, you never know until you pull the dip stick.

Being as how I live in the middle of the nation's worst covid hot spot, I kinda admire New Yorkers at the moment.

I did see the pics on GP. The question is, did you ABSOLUTELY want an ECV? If so, even with a $3000 engine, you got one at the going rate which seems to be $15K.

Typical on the ones that are missing the rain cap on the air cleaner. These trucks have sat for years open to the elements. See the water stains inside the air hose.

You got it cheap like that because the engine is full of rain. Add an engine to your costs.

    S-318/G Shelter, Electrical Equipment

Nice! Are you going to build it back into a AN/GRC-142 ratt shack? Your has (had) the A/C unit, wish mine had that.

    Tyre replacement with runflat

No I was trying to INSTALL the runflat. Pulling them out using the redneck pickup truck method is simple and easy.

    Tyre replacement with runflat

The ebay runflat compressor with the boat winch is absolute garbage. So I tried the youtube method with the hydraulic jack. Had about 6 tons of pressure on the jack making the runflat oval, when suddenly the runflat changed shape and launched the 4x4 timber spacer I was using out and it hit me...

Small under powered pickup meets its replacement

Oh heck yeah, use that 215 to haul it to the shredder. Wish I could find a 215.

Interesting explanation of importance of driveshaft phasing

On FMTVs the slip joint spines are so course that you can eyeball the driveshaft and tell if it’s off.
