Hmm, if you restored it, you already have a picture of all that it would be good for, a museum display. The structure looks like it just needs new planks. The tank looks like it would take some very special carpentry to remake the wood pieces. Not sure what I would do with it.

Yup they shift rough no question about that. And yup when towing something that drags them down. I used to do a lot of flat tows of M37s with it and oh that was awful. Loaded in the bed was not bad.
Yup deer cabin is a good continued use for that one, given every single item is removed from the interior. I won mine from a DRMO auction at Ft Hood back in the 90’s, glad I kept mine inside or I now know what 30 years of sitting outside would do to it.
You're thinking of the Reo with the OA331. The 302 moves these GMCs like a scalded dog. Back in the day I drove mine like I stole it, 60 mph against the governor at 3400 RPMs for hours on end.
Those 40 ft boxes are 7000 lbs tare. I drag mine around empty with a 915 in a dry grass pasture without issue. The box lifts up about a foot when I pull on it. It’s empty though.
