Having seen two front wheels come off, (one from a semi-truck and the other off a bus) both vehicles survived and there was no injuries. That being said it could have caused a severe accident and death. Both actually came off because the bearing jam nuts where not secured and the whole wheel...
For all you guys who want to use your torque multiplier to put the lug-nuts back on, just remember it must be held perfectly straight and level or your torque will be off. We do use the torque multipliers at the bus barns to reinstall differential yoke nuts which can be in excess of 2,000 ft...
Never use a torque multiplier to install any lug-nut . Not unless you hate the wheel studs. If you don't own a torque wrench then get a 4 foot breaker bar and tighten the lug-nuts down with that. You can get pretty close to the 500ft Ibs needed. I know the TM says the torque is 400 something...
I actually looked into this a few years ago. I called "Tracey Varns" who runs a modified tractor in the tractor pulls. He originally used the Multifuel engine. Then he started modifying them until now his engines put out 5,000HP !!! Of course he makes his own engine blocks out of a solid chunk...
I'm sorry I missed your point completely. I agree, we need to find out what the amount of zinc/pho is needed in our engines . But like Drock said, there is no way we will find out the truth from any oil company or even engine manufacturer. They don't want us to find out the truth. Like I said...
Frank, that is a great report on the damage soot does to an engine. I've known that for years since working at IHC . IHC added "LuberFiners" to all their over the road semi-trucks just for this reason. These where the 5 gallon ones, not the little tweeky units.
I also agree with this reports...
I agree it would be a great idea to compare all our trucks and the oils and additives used in each. We could set-up a data base and keep track of all our trucks and oil changes. Then after a year or two compare results. I believe we have enough members here that our data base would be enough to...
If someone set the valve lash incorrectly it could be causing this. Also the fuel timing could be off. These "Yanmar" engines are pretty dependable units with few mechanical problems.
That power steering pump bracket is a good find ! I wish I had some stashed away somewhere ! Wait a minute, I believe I do have one somewhere. If I could just remember where I put it. aua
I have a brand new "Olympus" Pump in my right tank and the "Parker" ( barely used ) I bought on eBay in my left tank. The only difference is the Parker is so much more quite then the Olympus one. I can hear the Olympus running standing by the fuel tank, but I need to remove the fuel cap and put...
I just finished reading this article. I would give it serious credence if he actually gave us his name. No were does he even mention it only "RAT540" . Also anyone who states that "anyone who disagrees with me is wrong" also is a major suspect in my opinion. I have said over and over I can be...
Sorry Frank, but you took the "Troll" bait. None of the papers you posted gave any information backing up their claims. They just gave "Their" opinions. I'll stick with the report my buddy gave me. After all that is a real magazine for independent Gas station owners. Also I have my "own"...
The early deuces had a round aluminum housing with three bulbs inside. One for braking, one for lights, and one for turn signals. The fronts had a dedicated turn signal mounted on the fenders with the metal bracket for protection.
I converted my 1988 deuce back to the older style as the newer...
Are you talking about the fuel ones ? If so I just made my own. I posted the whole thing here. The oil ones are made by a few people. Go to eBay and look it up.
