What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

This filter on the TH400 has been a "problem child" for years. If they are not secured properly the filter will "flop" allowing the rubber seal to come loose on the "pick-up tube". This causes the oil pump to suck air and loose prime and pressure for a few moments. It also can cause the vehicle...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

If your filter was not securely mounted to the valve body they can come loose. I use large washers under the mounting nut to remove any "play" in the filter. This has worked well for me for decades now on all my rebuilds. Ford and Chrysler and most all other transmission manufactures have all...

    My New Knuckle-Boom Deuce Thread.

I hate to tell you but that oil leaking at the exhaust by the turbo is a major sign that the turbo is leaking. There really should not be any oil in the exhaust pipe. Take the pipe off and look at the turbo. If you see crusty oil build-up then you have a leaking turbo.

    Fuel leak at injection pump

Have you tried to tighten the injection lines at the pump ? Use a "line" wrench if you have one. They do come loose from time to time.

Connected my MEP-803A the proper way as my home standby generator... Install pics...

Actually the closer you are to 100% the better. Diesel engines perform better when they are running at their factory designed peak for ultimate performance and economy.

    Valence's 1972 M35A2

All I can say is WOW ! I never knew the military had padded bench seat covers for the deuce. All those miles on my poor tired "behind" and it could have been helped with just a little padding ! Of course in the Marines they never did care a fig about your "comfort" .

    Flood recovery

That is good planning ! Who knows. If you totally drain the transmission fluid you might still have a good long life out of it.

    Flood recovery

OK you must change out the transmission fluid and filter. I know a lot of people think there is no harm if a little water gets into the transmission but they are wrong. In a few years from now you can be driving along when suddenly your transmission takes a total dump on you ! You ask yourself...

M1010 for my daughter the field biologist

Totally agree with Mr. Ahab here. If they work then don't mess with them. Usually the last item I replace is an injector. Using good fuel and some additives helps keep them running well for many miles. On our busses we had a maintenance program where they had to be changed out every 50,000...

The clutch assembly is a "Rockford 15TM" and the Federal Stock Number is 2520-752-0944 . The other numbers given where 7520944 and 19207. This site looks promising http://www.mid-americaclutch.com/clutches/15-inch-push-type-clutches/

    Iso unicor nf2d manual

That's why I still have all my bus manuals. Will never work on one again, but someone down the road might need some information only the manuals provide. The transit agency sells the old buses after 17 to 20 years or a million miles (which happens more then you think) . They still have a lot of...

    Finally bought a MEP-831a

Your valves and seats looked fine, so a little touch-up from the machine shop should be all they need.

Yeah. I've had to clean out my container since it will be getting moved in a few days. Over 7 tons of parts went to the scrapper :-( . I just had nowhere to put them. The new shop is on hold for a little while longer while the house renovation goes forward. Priorities ! Or I should say how to...

Rear piston appears slightly melted. What to do about it?

The spray nozzles for the pistons have there own "separate" oil system. Once the main oil goes to the regulator it channels off a portion for the spray nozzles which has it's own regulator. That was a good find on the pressure line plug ! The hole could have been tapped out to deep for the...

Yeah, you got yourself a multifuel clutch pressure plate there. You might have to have the old clutch pressure plate "ground" at a machine shop. To bad, I threw out three gas engine clutch pressure plates last week. Two where in really good shape to.
