Hubs - how hot is too hot?

That's right Chris. In fact most hubs should have about .002" - .005" clearance due to heat expansion of the bearings.

    New Chevy Trucks

Thank you very much cucvrus !!!! That will be great to add to my trucks manuals especially for my son when he turns 18 and the truck becomes his !

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

We steamed cleaned our engines all the time at Metro. It never caused any problems, unless you had a bad electrical connector ! Then you would be chasing a faulty circuit all day long !!!

    Exhaust Brake on an M35A2

Floridianson I know your just trying to keep the peace here and I respect that, as I also respect you and your knowledge of these military vehicles. But I was slandered when I was told I'm spreading false or "FUD" information. Especially coming from a "Moderator" . If it was from some other...

    Exhaust Brake on an M35A2

We are not talking about "Regeneration" . That is a totally separate subject. Also all the Cummins engines with the "common Rail" injection use the "SCR" system. Again I'll post proof of what I'm saying. This is from the Cummins Service Manual.

    Exhaust Brake on an M35A2

YES !!! Finally someone see's what I'm saying. I did call "Cummins Northwest" today and my friend said to call the Tech department at 800-286-6467 . They also verified what I have been saying (in fact they said why in the world would you add fuel when your trying to "slow down" the truck ? ) but...

    New Chevy Trucks

Now that is something real nice to have !

    Exhaust Brake on an M35A2

Again there is a grain of truth to your statement, but the reality is something different. The system your describing is the "Lean NOx catalyst" system. It is only used on a very few engines. The most common is the "SCR" system which uses the "urea" solution. That is the stuff you must add to...

    Exhaust Brake on an M35A2

Well when someone says I'm giving "FUD" advice that is not a very nice thing to say. The advice I give is from my decades of actually doing mechanical work. Not something I learned from reading a web site's tech column. If you disagree with something I have written that's fine. I will explain my...

    Exhaust Brake on an M35A2

OK, time for a little tech lesson. The average combustion chamber reaches the temperature of 2732 degrees Fahrenheit. That is of course using fuel. Now if we take away the fuel the temperature is only several hundreds degrees of Fahrenheit. So for those who think the injector cannot handle that...

    Exhaust Brake on an M35A2

Are you saying I'm spreading FUD ? Really ?!?! Take a good look at the electrical diagram from "Jacobs" . I circled the important part. Your statement that injection pumps circulate fuel is correct, but the part about the injectors is totally wrong. As far as heat on the injector tips in...

    New Chevy Trucks

Since I'm retired now this will be the last vehicle I buy. Hopefully it will last till I die. I know my M1028 will !

    Who pays this?

You are so right on ! Out here in Washington State we usually get no trailers or vehicles, so when one comes up for auction the prices paid are absolutely crazy !!!

    Mep501a

I have two MEP-501A's and one MEP-531A . I love these little units ! The A/C unit is perfect for our little travel trailer. If you don't like the 28 volt MEP-501A unit then find a beat-up MEP-531A and install the generator on it. These little Yanmar engines seem to go forever !

    New Chevy Trucks

I agree about the "sticker" shock. The base price for the 1 ton dually is $35,000.00 . A nice chunk of change. Then you start to add all the "extra's" like the big engine/transmission package, the tow package, the nice interior package , the stereo package, the camera package, etc ..... It adds...

    Exhaust Brake on an M35A2

It's a "yes and no" kind of question. Yes there is excessive fuel going out the exhaust. No I don't think it will be hurt much except for exhaust emissions. Since we don't have to test for emissions that is not a problem. You can have a little problem if your exhaust is extremely hot and you...

    Request M35A2 Retrieval info

Before you even turn over the engine, I would recommend you take the center bolt off the Hydraulic Head and put some "PB Blaster" down that hole. I believe the leading cause of the plunger retaining clip coming off is that the plunger gets stuck due to gummy fuel. So lube down that plunger. Then...

Transmission Problem 5th Gear Retaining Ring

The 3rd gear retainer bushing is pressed on, while the 5th gear bushing is held in place with a "pin" in the mainshaft.

    Dead Pilot's M36a2 Build

If that had an automatic ammo loader I know the military would buy it !!!
